Labour weekend = Taranaki Wave Classic. Even without the event and party officially happening (cancelled due to the uncertainty around Covid), plenty of people from all over the country made their way to Taranaki and did get rewarded. We had 5 days of fantastic conditions: 2 days with excellent surf, followed by 3 days of windsurfing. I need some rest now! Wrong tack...
It's rare to get Starboard tack in Taranaki. Most of the sailing is port tack (what I classify as wrong tack 
) as most of the time there is some sort of South in the wind (Southeast, Southwest,...). You pick your spot along the coast to have it perfect cross-off.....
Yes 90% is port tack wave riding on the Taranaki coast.
The photos look like Kina Road on NW wind direction which also works in SE.
Being natural foot I used to favor starboard tack wave riding and takes time to feel good port tack wave riding.
Sure there are times where the swell pumps and the wind kicks in for the same direction for a few days but then NZ is an island where fronts come through and being able to make the most of the conditions so adapt to what ever wind direction on the day.
The Taranaki Coast is awesome and if you want good conditions get there
