Wondering the best way to hold your rig when off your board floating infront of the breakers? By the boom with the sail parallel? Swim the sail out and try and hold it up? Point it into the waves?
Discuss.
Reckon it is best to sink the rig parallel holding onto the mast around the boom area so you can quickly get the rig up and you are in position to water start after you get hit by the wave.
If the waves aren't that big then it is worth getting the sail up from the water start position and then spearing your board into the wave. It should make it easily over the whitewater and then you can water start straight away.
Cheers all. Makes sense Alastair.
Anyone recommend a good wave sailing instructional video? Jem H one good?
If its decent size surf point the mast out to sea stand on the sail ( to sink it abit )and grab hold of the boom up near the mast end. Hold it with bent arms to minimise the jerk.
