Hi,
Never sailed a Goya so cannot comment on those.

Had five 96L fanatic free waves over the years, including TE and loved them. Just swapped mine for a 86L fanatic freeware and love that too!

I've got a 2015 freewave TE. don't think the 2016 is all that differen. Very versatile. Hops onto the plane quick. Jumps easy, very light under foot, forgiving user friendly and has helped me to get back into wave riding. Has been great for average surf and wind. Only criticisim ; the paint practically blows off in the wind. Mine looked ragged after the first week!

Rode freewaves for years before going onto wave boards & reckon they're the standard setter. Still keep an 85lt in the kit for those onshore days. Trialed the Goya in Maui last year and quite frankly mate you would'nt go wrong with either. Right on the money with both.

A local guy owns the 2015 95 freewave.
I was so impressed with the way he rode it I asked if I could give it a try.
I was amazed at how well it wave rode even with standard fins.
He uses the 95 with a larger single fin and side fins out on the lake with stunning performance.
This guy owns 4 other modern boards of different sizes and styles and highly rates the 95 Freewave for it's versatility.

In short the 95 Freewave is an amazing board.
If you were to follow the Fanatic Freewave history over the years there has never been a board that has not received rave reviews.
You can bet the 96 Freewave won't disappoint.
