Hi guys,

Just wondering if someone can recommend some good spots for wavesailing on the central coast esp in a nor easter. had a very nice sail at Birdie Beach last saturday although was just me and a mate so was wondering where everyone else sails (unless all the wavesailors were at the Mambo) .Apologies if this has been covered in other threads.

bdl,
I was wondering the same thing as I have now sailed Norah Head solo twice this spring. Word is they sail down to the next beach (Pelican) as it is more offshore. Norah is great in NE, especially with any south swell. NE - Forresters with some swell & I have heard Ettalong can be great with a big swell and NE wind but I haven't been there.

I think the kiters mostly go to (north) Entrance in NE and Toowoon which can hold a big south/SE swell and is sailable in S-SE-ESE wind.

Norah gets more NE wind than Newcastle as I think the coal dust etc. mucks up the atmosphere. I think the Norah Head wind reader is at the lighthouse so that inflates the actual wind by about 5 knots.

Toowoon or Umina when it's anything with S in it.

Forries or Nth. Entrance when it's NE.

Never seen Umina/Ettalong work in a NE'er but it may be possible, maybe.

Is Pelo's the beach just south of Norah Head with a little spit jutting out into the ocean which seems to bend the north East swell round. No grass rigging and you have to carry your gear down the hill to get to the beach, then walk up the beach a couple of hundred meters to get to the break

If that's the spot i sailed it recently with some nice 3-4 foot north east swell, and it could have been really good if it was'nt for all the surfers in my way!!

Thats the spot sundayroast. Worth the walk on a good day for a surf or sail. Carpark can be a problem over holidays with broken windows, etc. Some park at Soldiers and sail down and walk or upwind back. You can even do a downwinder to North Eny if you have the time.
