Which one should I take: the 5,4 Atlas or the 5,6 Combat? It will be the biggest sail for my JP FSW 93 in light conditions.
Is the 5,4 Atlas as powerful as the slightly bigger 5,6 Combat? Or even more powerful? Any experience with that two sails?
Joe
The Atlas is roughly the same power but will have abit more top end (more stable) but not much in it.
I'd take a Firefly - more stable and more range
Why not go the 5.8 Atlas if you are looking for power on a fsw board.
I run the 5.8 Atlas on my 96L fsw and then go down to a 5.0 combat.
I agree with Mark not much in it, though sometimes I think the full x ply on sails can make them a tad more stable.
Sorry but have to disagree. Have owned and used both sails in both the sizes you have listed.
Atlas has more power than the combat even though the combat is .2 of a metre bigger.
Atlas is a deeper sail so produces more drive.
Thanks guys for the info.
I'm gonna order the 5,4 and the 4,5 Atlas. Between them I have an older 5,0 Combat.
Also a reason for not choosing the 5,6 Combat is the almost full extended mast base. This might not be an issue for bump and jump, but in waves after a fall I think it is a problem. And the 5,8 Atlas (actually my favorite) unfortunately needs a 430 mast. For flying with airlines weight reduction is an issue and with 4,5 A, 5,0 C and 5,4 A I need just two masts (370 and 400) and not three. Max weight "should"
not exceed 32kg.
All three sails fit into one boom (X9 160-220).

Just got the 5,4 and 4,5 Atlas. Rigged the 5,4 on a 400 X65RDM and it fells incredibly light. The sail is really much fuller than my 5,6 Combat so I think WindWarrior must be right. I cant say anything about its perfomance yet because the winter is coming here in Austria. But in February I am going to Cabo Verde for 3 weeks.
