Picked up a 2nd hand 75Ltr Wave Board (I'm 73Kgs).
Current but traditional in shape into a narrow swallow tail.
Expect it will be fun in +20Knts.
Question is fins.
Has single fin and twin fin (parallel to centre box).
Tried a 9" HT Slot as a single looked too big and felt too big.
7" looks proportional as a single but thinking 2 x 7" as a twin fin, would be good.
Never used a twin fin wave board only a surfboard.
Yes or better suggestions please.
I'd suggest a 20cm single for down the line and 21cm for cross onshore.
for twin maybe 15cm would be ok. it all depends on your skill and amount of slide you like. in maui ultra fins 15.5cm would be good.
Boards width? Which exact model? I like small fins but still need decent drive. Had a sturdy tall 23cm on my freewave 77, tried 20 and ended up with a custom shaped 19. Perfect. Not all fins are equal. Some are stiff (thick) others are thin and narrow or raked back.
On my very narrow 81L I'm not bothered by 23cm or 22,5. Maybe because the board's narrow. My freewave is stiff as hell on 23.
Tried 21,5 on a very wide big 87L and it works well. Ofo width plays a big role certainly.
For twins same deal. Tried muf 15,5 and 16,5, and mfc 16 on a bigger 82L. Ended up with... Stiff and straighter MB 17s ! Need my drive!
I sail 4.2 up to 5.0 but more often 4.7/4.8. If going for the small sizes look for a smaller fin, etc.
Single, 18-22
twin 15 would like said be a good starting point.
the area of the different fins can vary, the shapes as well.
don't use asymmetrical on the twins.
I found that very few prefer a twin , myself included. it's far too skatey, like a shateboard, it's faster than all multi fins. any number of K4s would work .
As said before it depends on the board and the fins shape.
Boards with a lot of V offer more grip than those with single concave.
The th? fin position relatively to tail and back foot change also the amount of grip and drive offered by the fin.
Rails shapes: sharp and edgy or round and soft have an influence as well.
What board do you have? With the description you gave I reckon it could be a sb evil twin or maybe a angulo victory?

i had a 2009, RRD twin, think it was a called Wave Twin, I did ride it enough to know it wasn't my cuppa tea.
I added quad side front fins, and it transformed it. Much more to my liking .
The resurgence of the multi fin craze, twins were first , but lasted not long with quads taking over.
twin fins , 14 at smallest, 16 largest.
it's probably not compatible as not set up to maybe work, , with trying a trailing Tri fin, so use small center fin, and the twins. So a 9/10 center and 13/14 twins. Flikka, Patrik , MOO Custom have all done.
Agree with your recommendation Bertie - Maui Ultrafins X-Twins are great fins. Would still be using these if I had a board that they fit.
