I recently had the opportunity to try out some new gear with Red Denning at one of his local spots - Lake Coonewarre, 20mins out of Geelong and 1 hr 15mins from Melbourne. The conditions were ideal, 18kts southerly, flat water, sunshine and 2km runs. Having a collection of Vector Fins for the bay it was great to try out weed fins and I wasn't disappointed, sailed nicely powered up on the Sailworks Retro 7.5m and a Vector Rockit 38cm weed for 2hrs +. The fin characteristics are closely matched with the vertical variety and we proved this on the gps with many runs at 33kts. Thanks Red, next stop will be swan bay.
Ahh road trip to the West is always good.
Point Henry
