northern weekend

It was a solid extended weekend of windsurfing up north. Saturday saw a gentle sea breeze and a large crew of sailors at Lagoon with 7.5s being the sail of choice. I had to work that day so I missed most of the action but it looked like the Gemini was the ultimate board choice for the condition. It was good to see the Portsea boys at Lagoon. I arrived in time to partake in a few (non alcoholic) beverages on the lawn (there are no bogans around here) in the late afternoon sunshine.

On Sunday the wind arrived in a big lump in the middle of the afternoon leaving us to re rig a few times. The wind stayed around 30 knots till nightfall though most had packed up well before then. By the sound of it there was some solid swell and wind chop at Bell Buoy with the incoming tide. There was the usual emphasis on rotational moves ( the coach would have been impressed)with the usual associated wear and tear. I know I had to sail Bell Buoy by myself on Monday as the crew were making feeble complaints ( Work....... which is obviously code for " to tied and worn out so I am going to have a nap at my desk").

By Tuesday I was to tired and worn out so I had a nap at work and couldn't be persuaded by Greenie to go to Bell Buoy. It was 20 to 25 most of the day.

Rumour has it that ASADA (Australian Sailboarding Anti Doofus Authority ) is investigating Coach Houston for supplying banned lettuce supplements to the team. I expect the investigation to take years and years.....

Certainly having a good run at the moment. Prior to the above Geoff and I had lagoon to ourselves in solid 5.8 wind Friday night and today after a 2 day penalty for changing sails too many times Sunday we are off to sail the seabreeze at Rosevears... Love summer...
