The time has come again for the AGM at the traditional Stanley weekend event.
AGM will be planned for Sunday morning (unless racing is planned due to weather) in which case time will be updated on SB.
Nominations are sought on SB for the committee roles including;
President
Vice Pres.
Secretary
Treasurer
Committee members
Cheers & looking forward to the weekend.
Mort
It would be great to see a few Southern based sailors on the committee, even if as general committee members.
It is far easier to run events successfully around Hobart with a few committee based there.
I am hoping to have a draft schedule of events for the 2019-20 season on the table at Stanley to get people motivated and thinking early on.
Clarence
Sorry guys, Can't make it. But am happy to continue on as a general committee member. Thanks to all those who have served on the committee.
As posted on 5/2/19, we will be having a Special General Meeting on 4/3/19.
This will be held in Launceston on 4/3/19 inthe evening. We can do skype hookup for anyone who wants to attend (this has worked fairly well in the past)
This is mainly to sort out a few matters prior to the Stanley AGM.
See agenda below:
WINDSURFING TASMANIA:
Proposed Meeting Agenda 4/3/18
1) Stanley meeting times/ arrangements
2) Proposed positions and nominations for Stanley
3) Trophies, awards, point scores for 2018-19

7) Format for events/scoring 2019-20 longboards/R300/LT and shortboards
8) General business
If anyone is unable to attend, but is interested in discussing any of the above, please contact me before hand.
Clarence
Don't forget the cape Country Classic Freerace- which will happen on the Stanley weekend.
Last year it didn't stop blowing all weekend.
I'm writing a draft calendar today for discussion tomorrow.
If anyone has any ideas on events they would like to run beyond the usual calendar please email me. We will also be looking for some organisers for some of the usual events. ph: 0488 586 076
Taking on organising an event is simply a matter of being the person to call the time, the place on seabreeze and being the phone contact for questions. There is the committee to help with the paperwork, entry forms etc. ![]()
Hello All
The 2019-2020 calendar is coming together.
The draft calendar will be discussed at this evenings meeting and further at the AGM at Stanley.
As you can see there are a few missing contact slots including some free race events, the southern learner day and the southern wave event.
If any members are interested in being the contact for these please let me know. Dates can be changed to suit the organisers.
Also if members can see any clashes it would be great to find these now. Gill

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION Join Windsurfing Tasmania as a social ($35) or competitor ($50) member. Social members get one free entry to WT Events. Competitors get free entry to all WT Events. Entry fee is $10 per event. For more information visit www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Tasmania
Entrants to WT Events must complete an Event Entry Form prior to competing and sign ON and OFF before and after every day's competition.
NOTE: All events are open to longboards, race boards, windsurfer one designs and any other type of windsurfer. Foils are also able to be used instead of standard fins. It is expected that if winds are light, sailors can choose to use foils rather than bigger boards and sails or longboards. This should make it easier to have racing completed in light winds.
Visit the Windsurfing Tasmania Forum on www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Tasmania for further information.
The forecast is looking pretty good for Stanley this weekend so pack some boards on the roof put on your best hillbilly hat and get on the road.

To get the ball rolling re nominations for committee, the current committee members are;
Clarence MacAlister - Pres
Adam Morton - VP
Alan Cook - Treasurer
Gillian Van der Schans - Secretary
Marty Jack - Southern Hire
Ben Nitschke
Kaleb Smith
Geoff Clark
Dave Morehead
Geoff Cook
Paul Bradner
I propose to re-nominate the current committee members for the new 2019 committee.
Those listed who wish not to be nominated feel free to let myself or Gillian know, and those others who would like to participate, likewise.
An additional nominee for committee is Jo Chau, who has supported the Techno class and longboard aspects in SBYC.
The positions of President and Vice President are open for nomination separately to the general committee positions.
All Official Positions (Pres, VP, Treasurer, Secretary) will be determined by vote at the AGM.

I agree with the list here, and would encourage any southern members who want to get involved to put their hand up.

Making a call on running of the Cape County Cup at 0800.
Options are to run in the morning on NE in the bay (if enough wind) or later in day at Eastern inlet on high tide after wind change.
Update by 0830.
AGM timing in line with above.

AGM called for 0930 at the camp kitchen.
Call to be made for race around 1pm.
East inlet nearer high tide most likely option.
Thanks to all who attended the AGM. We got through a lot.
Planning to meet at West Beach (NOT West Inlet) near Stanley at 2:00pm to see how it looks. This is the track at the NORTHERN end of West Beach (via Highfield). That is when we will decide the time for the Cape Country Classic Freerace.
Clarence
Great session ! The wind picked up to well over 20 knots with 9 very happy sailors on the water. West beach is a beautiful place to sail at high tide , such clear water and a David Attenborough scene of black swans overhead. I have some photos to post but no means as yet, so it may be Monday night before it happens. ![]()
Any update on this Clarence.
"Nice one everyone.
When you have time can you post a list of all the new positions please ."
We are doing up the minutes and will email info out to members in the next little while.
Generally speaking we will try to get Windsurfing Tasmania information to members first by email, then publicise it a bit later on seabreeze for the wider windsurfing community.
A bit of incentive to join and get all the news first..![]()
Yes, I am President again.
Clarence
Perhaps if WT are asking for nominations on SB, (from members and non) as in beginning of this post, it would be good to let SB viewers know at same time as members. Only makes sense and fair.
Not minutes but new committee.
just my thoughts.

Damo, part of the plan for this year will be for WT to get set up on TidyHq in alignment with WNSW, WWA and some other clubs (Inverloch).
This will help to streamline and keep an up to date membership list as well as processes to help communications, identify committee members, and eventually organising/registering events (in theory anyway
).
Intentions are to get that ready for the start of the new membership/financial year.![]()
Cheers, Mort
Thanks Mort,
thats great but..
Probably the biggest event this season coming up this weekend with a lot of sailors joining up who where members years ago.
Just had a lot of questions this week asking who is who on the WT Board from some of racers, many windsurfers from the way past joining up.
Thought it might be worth sharing.
cheers
Jo Chau & Clarence have been doing a great job at promoting and communicating the process for signing up on SB and FB threads. As far as I know registration closed yesterday. Looking forward to a successful first event, hopefully to become part of the annual calendar of events. ![]()
^^ PS. No additional nominations were forthcoming from WT membership or otherwise for committee/officer positions
.
I think Jo said there were maybe 17 entries overall!,, wow thats good.
There will be lots of regular sailors coming along ( not sailing) to check it all out, so i imagine next year with the resurgence of the OD there will be a lot more.
Have fun everyone.
