Next weekend is the Windsurfing Tasmania Southern Learn to Windsurf Day, which will be at either Dorans rd or Pipeclay lagoon/Cremorne.
Come along to a FREE learn to Windsurf/Fun Day
It will be on Sunday 11am to 2.30 pm***** Keep an eye on this forum for any updates

If you're keen to give windsurfing a go , come along and meet the local sailors who will be there to help you get started on the windsurfers provided by the club. It's also a chance to come and watch the local windsurfers in action, check out some of the gear, and talk to us about how to purchase new and second hand windsurfers. You'll pretty much find out all you need to get started.

The location will be Cremorne Lagoon (Honeywood Drive) or Dorans Rd jetty, Lauderdale. The location depends on the wind direction on the day so keep an eye out on this forum for an update closer to the day.

All you need to do is turn up on the day with a wetsuit, booties and a lifejacket

Come along and join the fun

If you need any more information contact Damien (0409854754) or Ant (0417577884) or just post in this forum. If the weather is not suitable for beginners (wind too strong) then we'll change to another day.

Keep watching this forum for more information or changes that may happen.

Some helpers would be appreciated on the day.

A few pics from a previous learner day.

Damo, Clarence indicated there would be a $35 fee for insurance purposes for the Northern day whereas yours is in bold text as free. Is that definitely correct ?

If money has to change hands it's a pity. Way of the world these days it would seem. I am not a WT member but in the past years I have always tried to get down and teach as many people as I could, even supplied some of my own gear for people to use. Does this mean I can't be involved without paying ? Can you take people's money and then give it back at the day if there isn't any incident. Probably not practical , just thinking out aloud.

The 35 bucks includes insurance cover under the AWA for this and other non competition events, as well as social membership for the balance of the year. Worth the cost of a movie, popcorn and drink, or a couple of smashed avo's on Salamanca I would think . It was great to see a good turn out of keen participants yesterday up north.
I'm sure all vollies are welcome, and a number provided some of their own gear yesterday as well.
As Clarence noted^^ all will be clear soon.

The learn to windsurf days south has been run for 7 years with many events.
None have cost the participants and this one is the same.
It is a free event, all involved will have to sign a liability form.
See you all on Sunday

Oh no ,are you an Australian citizen , or do you have duel citizenship , ?.
I know lots of people that might go to the dark side ,if a duel was to happen,.
Keep'n it real
Ah the politics.

No need to discuss politics- that is what why we elect politicians.

If there is any politics to discuss, I'm all ears.

The most recent Learners Day at Low Head was a huge success. All the events that have been held in the south by Damien, Houston etc have been successful as well.

We will stick to what we do best- sharing the stoke of windsurfing, because we do it very well.

Not making call on location yet as two days ago it was showing perfect for Pond, now maybe Dorans.
It really does not matter as they are only 5 minutes apart.
Keep an eye on the Forum everyone

Location for tomorrow will be Cremorne Lagoon. 11 till 2.30
Any queries give myself a ring on 0409854754, Damien

Drive down the South Arm Rd, 0.8km past the Cremorne turn off turn left into Honeywood Drive, 1km the road takes a hard right hand turn and 70m past that there's a track on the left going down to the reserve

The learner day will be at Dorans road, look across from the BP lauderdale and you will see a marque and flag on the bank.
Leave Lauderdale and turn right into Dorans road.
it is raining but we will be there even if you want to come and have a chat about the gear.
Bring your booties if you are participating

Great Day,
thanks for everyone turning up, not as many as in the past but the weather did not help.
In the end perfect learner conditions and we missed the heavy rain
Appreciate the help from everyone as usual, far and wide (Clarence made the journey from Launceston).

Happy sailing

Thanks Damien (and Marty and Barry and everyone else who helped out).

I think there were 8 new people on the water, which was great to see.

There should be a few photos up shortly.

The sky was quite overcast, but otherwise conditions were ideal with warm temperatures and 5-10 knots of onshore wind. Marty, Damien and Barry (sorry if I missed anyone) put in a lot of time and attention to the participants. 4 of the 8 (or was it 9?) were ladies- and they all did very well. The event was very well organised and well received by the participants I spoke to. I think Marty has some more photos.
