Hi northerners.
I'm heading to Devo on Friday, and suspect I'll get a leave pass for some of this Saturday - Meteye shows 15-20 knots on Moorlands and Bakers which is not too far away. While I suspect Bell Bouys would be better, I'm not sure I can get away that far (time restrictions). Looks like it might be onshore at Bakers in the morning, but turning more cross shore in the arvo. High tide around midday. Is anyone else intending heading out on the coast on Saturday? Marty

Hi Marty,
I'll be around Saturday and interested in trying out at Moorlands (and possibly Bakers) being the nearest wave locations. Can't say I'm an accomplished wave sailor and haven't sailed either of these, as I'd prefer to go with someone who knows what they're doing first go. Wind strength would be suitable for my gear (5.0 smallest).

DanSurf has been posting lately as an honorary Tasmanian and he's based in Ulvy I think, if he's back from Hobart (based on last post)

Cheers,
Mort

Thanks mort. I am a wave hack but enjoy getting out there. Have sailed moorlands a few times now but not bakers. Will give you a call sat late morning to tee up a time and place to go. Cheers 0428 123655

Hey guys,
an honour to be amongst you. I'm still in the south though and will enjoy the waves down here. I'll be up in the NW (Marrawah) starting from Monday for the next couple weeks, so happy for anyone to join me up there.

Thanks again Adam for the improvement in Moorlands location. It was a fantastic sail today. BoM showed devo was 17 gusting to 25 knots for all arvo. I'm still staggered that you could hold down that 6.6 in those conditions. I'll be in contact with you (and Dan and any other NW coasters) when I head north for a sail next. Super glad the fin turned out to belong to a seal and not something else. Bugger about the 5.8, but it shouldn't be too hard to patch.
Jeez I love summer.

Yeah, good fun today. I can see from the chart why i was fully powered up on the 6.6 for the last hour.

Looks like either a job for Damo, or a chance to update to something a little more modern. Anyone looking to sell a Blade or similar around the 5.5-5.8 size range?

PS. I am equally glad that it was a seal rather than anything more ominous, as i spend more time in the water than most.
