Goat boats (pros) , two blades are better than one ( more waves ) , no falling sitting down low and close to waves, wee stays in wetsuit and on board for better warmth ,beer can travel in compartments with you and volume and turning similar to SUPs (cons social exclusion and steering control)
I'll Play
- why is being close to water a pro - get a boogie board if you want to be close to water, or forgo any device and swim
- if you fall off a wave ski, harder to get back on board and paddle again, especially in the impact zone
- wee gets wash out of wetsuit due to that previously explained aspect of being close to the water - ends up pooling in the seat and stains the goat boat
- assuming this is a wave ski (as catching waves was mentioned), unlikely to have a compartment for beer, and beer will be very frothy when opened. For longer paddles when beer is required, SUP works just as well as can tie beer bag to body or board.
- valid point on social exclusion. A goat boat is a goat boat. With a SUP you can hide the paddle and blend in as a surfer, longboarding is the new black after all
- More cons - Hemorrhoids (enough said); tougher to hold a paddle with two blades when in the washing machine after a fall; social stigma; being strapped in (which you obviously will as you will be charging hard) when being dumped by a wave is not fun; did I mention social stigma?; less likely to get the fairer sex involved with a wave ski than a nice sunny social SUP; the front mount of a GoPRO on a goat boat leaves a questionable viewing angle.
Also, the SUP will fit nicely in storage with the windsrufer boards, similar shape and size.
