Bakers was at its fickle best today with a high tide and a gusty swirling wind. I was intending to sail closer to Low Head but the forecast looked like it might become unsailable and Paul and Luka had gone for the early session while the tide was low. I ended up at Bakers around half 11 and 10 to 25 knots early which built up to a gusty 15 to 35 knots and some solid overhead walls,.
The readings suggest that it was a good 10 to 15 knots windier and more WNW at Low Head!
The waves were not giving the usual long rides today with 2 or 3 turns being the norm rather that 6 to 8 turns when its really firing.

How you like the NANO 78 Al?
It feels really balanced I have only had a few sessions so far but its lots of fun to sail. Its an interesting contrast to the Mako (84) which really comes into its own in powered up down the line or on bigger waves. I am still a bit rusty after not many sessions in the last 12 months so hopefully this spring brings the conditions.
i think the nano is a lot better suited board to tassie conditions - .
yeah hopefully lots of wind this season!!

You may be right about the Nano but having spent a bit of time on the Mako 84 and less time on the Nano 78 I am not sure that is completely correct. The most noticeable difference is that the Mako is smoother in chop and has more nose lift so its easier on the knees and in those moments when you really have to make that late drop its pretty awesome. I think the Nano goes upwind better and feels sharper in the smaller waves we spent most of our time sailing. For some people the Mako will be the best choice. ( I think it planes just as early despite the softer rails). Which size Mako have you sailed?
Al
i have the new Nano 77 and they have improved those negatives you mentioned. . Now very smooth and have returned the nose.
It was last weeks 40 knots at Carlton that Tim and myself both commented on how smooth these new boards were. ( 82 and 77) Both sailed as quads.
As i owned the earlier 78 and now the 77 i have something to compare against.
Mako sailed none..- it is definitely more of a pure down the line board than the Nano
