ian, john and myself are "likely" to be sailing cross off 20-25k on a fair swell sunday arvo please join us. those who experience nene may be pleasantly suprised with what this place can offer and it might not be just robe that you travel south for. nene has the same crystal clear water as robe with a combination of reef and sand bank breaks. ok for some this is no secret, but for those uninitiated take a spin or a day trip from robe and check us, theres always a good vibe. did i mention pebbles !!!!!

Thanks for the invite Pilch and would be keen as but its a bit far for a day trip and I'll just have to put up with knee high dribble at sellicks

Maybe March weekend would be good to get a posse together and head down - would love to get a surf at pebbles as well - the west coast is calling as well - not sure which way to go

Has the upwelling happened and cooled the water or are boardies and a rashie OK (I am being hopeful)

I was there this arvo and man it was big, ended up at Livingstone's
Nene Valley break was going off. Hope it quietens down a bit for Sunday.
I might go to Jones if theres to much south west in it. See what tomorrow brings.

ok Matt pilchard,my curiousity is up,how big was it,and was it xshore.

Port Mcdonald would be a treasure trove for wind and waves, was allways windy when we passed through surfing years ago,can remember seeing a few windsurfers out back then!

Nar gunna, BOM got it wrong.
Matt will probably reply later, until then a quick update.

5 knots from midday until 4pm then a 15 knot (cross on southerly) kicked in.
Kiters had some fun but the poley boys struggled a bit.

The swell dropped off the stronger it got, got pretty mushy in the end. Still some chest to head high stuff out the back though.

I always thought down winders were over rated but I’ve changed my mind of late. Tried a few lately and they are heaps of fun especially with waves thrown in. Never tried one at the valley until yeasterday, it turned a ordinary session into a

SUPing in clean waist to head high waves at Brown’s in the morning and a kite at the valley in the afternoon, I’m not complaining.

Yeah your right, no lack of wind and waves around port mac. I probably was one of those poley's you saw years ago, since moved over to the dark side.

Yeah, interested to hear how it went.

Glad you posted on this - I've sailed Port Mac a few times and have been keen to get back down your way and check out nene. We used to sail at a spot just east of Port Mac -think it was just past the caravan park on eight mile creek rd, on a reef break. We had it good a few times when it was SW but I think the swell may have been a bit protected there.

Hey Boags,
More than happy to show you around if your ever down this way.

There is a clean reef break (lefthander) approx 1 km past the caravan park that we call Orwell rocks. This is my favorite kiting / windsurfing spot on a South Easterly. Not big but useally always clean.

Theres better spots around on a south westerly, dogs balls and the dairy. Both with in half a k back towards port mac

There's a few other bigger reef breaks on the western side (5 km's) of Port Mac that the surfers hit but I'm affraid my b&lls aren't big enough. Posties etc.

20 > 25 knots south easterly this arvo pretty mushy so we hit the flat water inside the break water.

Hey thanks for that HAAK,
I'm thinking about heading down your way later this year.
I reckon that place you can orwell rocks might have been the place we used to sail - I can remember a little clean lefthander and we had it at 30kts a few times. Cheers

hey boags come down any time mate i sail all year round. yes the tea baggers had the best of it on sunday good thing we didnt have a mass influx of sailers that arvo but monday night john and i scored nene 3' and 20-25+ side -side off sou east. this was my first port tacker for the season and i was a bit rusty and totaly rooted after only an hour and a bit. would love to see some one who rips down here tearing it to bits like scotty mc or deano riles

How are you Port Mac lads?
Its good getting on this forum to see there some crew sailing around Port Mac. My inlaws have just retired down there from Adelaide and we head down that way at least 5 times a year. I'm just getting back into wavesailing after been out of the scene for about 10 years, updated the gear and are as keen as mustard again! Can get pretty heavy down there sometimes so always looking for crew to sail with.
Cheers
