Gday all,not too familiar with windsurfing set ups, but have a Naish Nalu (11'6'') stand up paddle board that has a small screw insert in the deck for (I am told)a mast base .Does anyone know what base set up I would need to get it set up as a sailboard.Obviously a mast, boom and sail are required(I did have a few old windsurfers) but am not sure about the type of base that uses the single screw mount and a guess on the approx sail size(5sqm to 6sqm I would guess)that a 95kg person would need on light wind days.I guess the mast etc would best be bought cheaply secondhand, as high performance is not an issue..Thanks

Waxer,

I have the same board as you, I've used a standard mast base (see pic below), simply unscrew the nut off it & the base will screw into your board. The sail I had up was a 5.6m, cruised nicely, hope to get in some small (<2")waves this weekend with that setup.

P.S. Prob would receive more responses if posted in the sup forum.

[edit] If you're going to get a rig, make sure the mast base & extension are compatible, there are a couple of different types. Best to get hold of a complete rig - see SB buy'n'sell.

Hi Waxer

If it's a 8mm bolt, it might take one of the old Tyronsea bases. I have one of these bases and two old wave sails (5.0, 5.8) that you are welcome to if you want to give it a try. You would need to find a 430 mast and boom to go with it.

A 5.8 would be perfect size - you won't get planning, but perfect for the light wind stuff without and without waves.

PM me if interested.

Regards, Richard
