Looking at the long range marine forecasts there are some good nnw on computer model for next Friday - and looks like continuing in to Saturday nnw - keep your eye on it and make sure your gear is in good working order - there is some wsw swell predicted late next week as well.

The last weekend of May just might be what we've been waiting for -- watch this space --low tide at the mid at 0930 0.74 Victor Harbor High at 12.00 (1.34)

If the forecast is good Weds / Thurs we'll call it so make a tentative booking now.

You must have very high logos!!

By the sound of yesterday (and look of the web-cam) it was about as big as Middleton & south coast gets

this is as big as south ever gets, its the dump, taken onswellnet this year.
never seen it break that far out.solid 7ft??maybe
When they had the aussie titles at the dump in the early 80s it was 8to 10ft,
mark richards and co,and apparently no one was real keen on going out, wonder why?...just some trivia for the bored..

Had a surf at middleton today, huge paddle out thru the bay and coped plenty of sets on the head.Sat at least 500mtrs out the back with some sets breaking even futher out.It was suprisingly glassy out there and with plenty of double head high+ waves to be had. ..,,,,

Sounds like you would have been sitting out aligned with Frenchies reef Craig - spaghetti arm paddle with a lung full of water on the sets - were you on your 8 ftr?

Just looked at the calendar and there is actually 5 weekends in may so there is still this weekend and the 30/31st for the exprssn session - hope its this weekend

Saturday is still a chance at the Mid - showin nne and swell - lets see how much it changes between now and then!!! Maybe Sunday will go NNW for day st!

MMMMMMMMMMM - what to do - the wind models are conflicting about Sat and Sunday

Longer-term forecast (6+ days):

N/NW winds should continue on Saturday as the low stalls in the Bight and begins to weaken. There may be a minor increase in windswell along the Mid Coast on this day, but probably nothing worth surfing. The South Coast will continue to see clean conditions, although the surf will probably drop back to only 1-2ft at more exposed breaks like Goolwa,

There is the potential for a new pulse of W'ly swell along the Mid Coast on Sunday, stemming from a W'ly fetch that is expected to form along the northern side of the low on Friday (as it pushes up towards southern WA). This may produce some 1-2ft waves, although winds look like remaining onshore from the W/NW at this stage. The South Coast will be a little cleaner but may not see any real benefit from this new swell due to its W'ly direction. This situation will be reviewed in the next forecast on Wednesday.

What does everyone think about the Express sesh this weekend.

Saturday is looking good for 20-25knt nthlies at the mid but wave size will be waist to chest high. Low tide and NNE wind Triggs or the rights between U's and Three poles???

Day street sounds like straight off shore 1-2ft sat. Sunday bigger at the mid and smaller at Middleton - as per swellnet

Do we sail cross off small waves at the mid or hold off for another week - or hope sunday delivers with nw's and small waves at Day st.

Opinions folks decision by 12pm Thursday

A bit more swell would be nice, but happy either way. Can't wait to go sailing. What time will we run it on saturday, when will the tides be best?

From past experience and what most crew know about northerlies on the mid - the swell usually kicks with the incoming tide and wind disappears around midday unless the front is right on our door step.

Tide will be coming in from 0930 - still enough water and a couple of nice little R) if you sail the right places and are careful where you go in and out. By the graphs the wind is meant to peak between 0800 and 1030 - I'd say just hit it in the morning - have the session betwenn 1030 and 1130 and bbq when the wind dies - Triggs or just sth of U's due to the nne component of the wind. Seaford gets too much of a wind shadow from the cliffs unless its n-nnw

And I could be full "o' sh&t as well and it will be the opposite. - Either way I will be sailing at U's around 9 till the wind fades - earlier if blowin it's bits off at sunrise.

Will post tonight after swellnet and marine forecast updates. Will email SSAWS email list as well.

See ya out there

PS We could always head to Day street if it is NW down there in the arvo!!!
