Sems is looking great in the arvo!

It will be a guaranteed epic session, as it falls on xmas day when you shouldnt be sailing anyway(murphys law)

Who sailed today ?. What did you do to achieve this ?

a) Lie to love ones about a friend being admitted to hospital ?,

b) Self injury,

c) tipping a coffee purchased by a loved one down the sink to shorten a luncheon ?,

d) 160km/h to Sems, or

e) Other.

Just curious, new to Adelaide so getting used to the wind reality. What happened today at Sems vs Seacliff? I was on a 7.5 around 4pm to 6pm. was Ok. But was it nuking at Semaphore? I'm trying to get a feel for where I should go in certain conditions. I've already learnt if straight South, go to Sems and it will pull in a little and head East up there and increase in force. Same deal with SW? or no point leaving Seacliff? So far I get skunked more at Seacliff and I hate that I get offshore and sometimes it just dies out there. What about when we get straight North or Westerlies?

I Sailed boggy 15=20 knots after lunch pretty flat. Looks like it will be similar today.

Drive down to Boggy, it tends to get the wind and regardless of direction it can be sailed.

on the metro coast for seabreezes
- seacliff = 1pm to 5pm
- henley beach = 2pm to 6pm
- semaphore = 3pm to 9pm

take a look at a map and you can see why.

boggy lake is a 1hr+ drive but comparable to wind semaphore IMHO.

Suggest a walk on the beach to settle the Xmas lunch....

Had a nice 6.0 session at Kent Res on steadily increasing wind speed - inconsistent 2' out in front of the dry reef. My best Xmas pressie - An onshore wave sail!

Thanks Quatro, yes I like Boggy too, but really only go there if there is no wind here or it is pure offshore and dangerous. Thanks for the summary on Sem's too. I take it that is because it is closer to the plains than glenelg and Seacliff?

i am not a meteorologist, but IMHO ....
(a) closer to the hotter plains (as you said)
(b) further away from the hills around the seacliff/hallett cove area
(c) coast angle slightly different so S or SSE winds are easier to sail

my core seacliff/glenelg gear is 7.0m and 100L slalom board
my core semaphore gear is 6.2m and 85L fsw board

only downside for semaphore is that the water gets choppier, so it is not as nice for blasting compared to seacliff/glenelg .. fortunately it is windier so the 85L boards handle the choppy conditions easier.

Bugger......I will need to be more careful with my posts in the future to make sure I always mention boggy the best and fastest (until the water level drops again) big fish free windsurfing spot around Adelaide.

It is so good it is worth the 15min drive for me!

It was pretty good yesterday at Semaphore. I was on the one sail the whole time. Only changed boards when it started to nuke. If today is like yesterday, I'm going to try this course on my freeride board early in the session:
