First time in two years im actually missing footy!

Whats the appeal of SUPing over surfing? Not having a go just asking. It is so expensive compared to surfing...

Not much in my opinion - just a different mode of wave riding but certainly can increase your wave count and ability to move around and get in good position in shifty peaky surf - can make some small junky surf a whole lot more fun - usually swap between shortie and SUP each week

It does help your overall balance and fitness

James, Supping means you can paddle back out faster meaning more waves and in my opinion more suited to our local waves. Also great for older guys who have bad necks and suffer more pain paddling a shortboard

The other thing that i find is that supping tends to work out more of the sailing related muscles than surfing so when i get a windy day i dont experience as much sore muscle pain after sailing.

yes, supping does cost more than surfing, but not as much as Sailing.

I agree with you Russ. My last sail was in March. Might need someone to show me how to rig up next time.

Luckily my scales are looking ok cause im paddling laps of delfin island twice a week on my race sup.

Ice on the windscreen tells me it's winter!
No doubt spring will be 30+ down here Monday to Friday
Must be a W or NW 25k all day sail around the corner surely?

Yep, not much wind. It has forced me to take up other hobbies like supping, kayaking and fishing. Wife is real happy with me buying new toys to get through

Hmm interesting. Does anyone remember what winter was like at the beginning of the last solar-max ? (about 2000, 2001 ?)

You're right there Russ. I've been working in Townsville for the past 3 weeks, working 10-14 hour days and eating junk food. I'm going to smash that salad, starting from tonight. I'm feeling flappy too.

Longboarding with a paddle!

Dunno about paddling out faster Bondi but yes defiantly more suited to our conditions....unless ya surf out Parsons"nothing like a short board wave"

Been an epic winter surfing

Maybe not at dribbleton where you have to fight the mush on the way out but definitelyo faster at a reef break. My small sup is nothing like a mal, much more like a shortboard. I ride my sup on shortboard waves too but agreed also love riding a shortboard in good waves.

Question from a newbie - I'm thinking about going to Boggy on Sunday for the easterly - is it likely to be ok? or does it get a bit choppy with the easterly

Delboy: Given that it's been forever since I sailed, I might see you there. I have no idea what an easterly is like at Boggy. It's not my turf. (Gareth ?, Carl ?).. but watch the forecast, and check last minute. Easterly is a rare wind direction.

No wind in morning, so had a chilly surf instead. Decent sized waves. Tomorrow - who knows?
