Note the change of venue for the Womens and Beginners day
Hi everyone: OPEN TO ALL
with a focus on getting as many women on the water as possible - early in the season ready for summer.
With lots of water in the lake its been decided that we move from the gusty but beginner friendly west lakes to the more open waters of Goolwa lake.

Now at Goolwa Aqua Cafe' picnic area (Toilets, playground, food outlet)

Sunday the 6th December from 1100-1700 (11-5pm)

There will be a Demo day with sausage sizzle (thanks Pete) and some beginner rigs (Thanks Pete & Tony).

Hope you can make it, bring all your family, female friends, etc have a blast and also get to check out some 2010 windsurfing gear

Bring Sunscreen, hat, a big board if you have one
A PFD is important for your safety and legally they may challenge you if you aren't wearing one (marines and harbours)
A chair, picnic lunch and maybe some shade.
A sense of adventure.

PM me, or ring the local windsurf retailers if you want to know what gear will be there.

See you all there Sunday - if you have a big board bring it along and go for a float - fingers crossed for a seabreeze in the arvo.

Cheers to everyone that came along on Sunday - was fantastic to see so many people trying out windsurfing for the first time - a lots of kids out their sailin, suping and having a great time. Unfortunately some of our regular women sailors had weren't able to make it so we'll have to do it again soon (Susie, Vicki, Kym)

Thanks To Richard Upton for the rescue boat (fortunately didn't need it in the end) and all the experienced windsurf crew for helping out and getting some stranded newbies up and sailing back to the beach.

Well done to Chris Hail on the BBQ and Pete for the sausages, lemonade and pale ales.

Was such a good vibe around the place with crew from KI, Barmera and even Austria and despite some screaming from some of the teenage girls as they had to walk through the sludge at the edge of the lake it was a great day.

The race across the lake was a highlight - the old long boards and the Kona were neck and neck - watch out for some official results and some photo's over the next couple of days

Thanks to Peter and Stewie from Onboard for some demo gear, shade bbq and beer for us all to try out as well. Special mention for the stellar effort of the sailing school for the boards and instruction - certainly earned your sausages and lemonade

Post a few piccies if you have some.

Cheers
Russell

Wished we could have made it - unfortunately just too busy a time of year; maybe next time. Good to see some life being reinjected into Goolwa Lake again.

Thanks for posting the pics guys. It was great to see so many newbies on the water and all making rapid progress in ideal conditions (5 - 8 knots I suppose). The race was a giggle and total chaos - probably never been a race with a wider variety of equipment on the water. Well sailed Peter Bubner on the Ten Cate Beacher!

Aloha dear windsurfing community!

I want to thank you for that nice womens and beginners day!!!
My mate from Austria and me enjoyed it a lot. It was Doris first time to do windsurfing and she thinks over it to start next year (after wintertime) in Europe.

Many thanks also to Anthony who helped me to teach Doris in windsurfing! And thanks to Onboard for using the windsurfing gear! :-)

Enclosed you find some pics!

See ya on the water
Luise
