So whilst being away ive noticed that all the local stores, becides one.
have gone down the ****ter.
so how does this effect us???
do we fight over cheap gear???
what gear will be avalible???
this may seem like a sweet time to get hold of new gear but as i see it, we could be in some serious trouble in realtion to store hook ups and variety of gear avalible and how much 2nd hand gear is out there.
love to hear your voice.
get involved???
lets hear it, no shop bias.
honest opinions!
TBH, cant see too much changing......
Always plenty of gear available whether on Seabreeze, ONBOARD, private sale etc..
very true but whether its from 2nd hand, seabreeze or where ever it does come from a store originally.
thus meaning over time what the store sells, becomes the only brands avalible in that area.
my point is will onboard stock all the brands or will everyone just be riding prydes and JP???
good luck to them but they cant sell them all.
whats the go then???
So with the opposition gone, where does this leave windsurfing.
Does it see new people in the sport???
Old crew re-incarnated or what???
im scared help me please!!!

Hi Guy's! I think that the future of Windsurfing here in SA is looking brighter and brighter. When I consider the position of Windsurfing here only a few years ago with no association, no events, no Seabreeze, no schools, tired retailers and only a handful of people genuinely interested in seeing growth in the sport... things really are looking up!!! I now look around and see a bunch of people who are really getting behind Windsurfing and the list is impressive:
SAWSA, State Titles, Ladies Days, Advance Windsurf School, Seabreeze Forums, Windsurfing SA, Onboard Demo Days, BBQ's at Russ's House, Family come and try Days, GPS Speed on the Lake, Summer Slalom Series, Winter Wavesailing Events, Robe Easter Classic, Divaldo's movies, Beachport Longweekend, Susies Photo's, Barmera weekend, OES locally made boards (I'm sure that I've missed a few!!). There is no doubt that Windsurfing here in SA is looking up. When you look around the other states of Australia, SA is really stepping things up. At our National buying meetings, we are always stoked to talk about the good things happening here in SA. So support your local stores (Us and Tony), support local events and involve new people in an awesome sport.
A BIG thanks to the crew who are putting in the effort to make these things happen. Cheers Pete
Windsurfing in SA is differentially growing thanks to what Pete Stated and also last year's Yachting SA's Bic Techno Youth Squad. Unfortunately this year it hasn't gone ahead due to the lack of gear available from Yachting Australia. I did the course last year and got me up and going and right into windsurfing. it would be nice to see Yachting SA buying some Bic gear or pushing their case more with Yachting Australia to get gear. It would also be nice to see some younger people present in the sport as this will aid in growth of the sport. So we can be represented by more people in state, national and international events.
Bring on the Onboard Demo Day in november :) YEW
State of windsurfing - healthy - state of forums - sometimes unhealthy.
One shop, two shops four shops - crew will buy where they feel comfortable and buy the gear they like, they'll shop around and look for service and price.
Windsurfers are overall a pretty switched on mob. Trends in gear and brands will come and go - and with everything so close in performance and range these days it comes down to getting what feels right for you at a price you can afford with some after sales service / warranty help if required - whether your ridng JP, Starboard Pryde Severne Gaastra F2 Fanatic OES its just awesome to see so many crew on the water - socialising before after and during a sail and running some organised events getting away for some weekends etc - despite how many shops windsurfing is gaining strength
I think if you look at our population and we would struggle to support more than 1 or two shops - and it would not be viable to run a retail outlet selling just sailing gear - we just don't buy enough new gear.
If we support local retailers then hopefully will be happy to continue to support windsurfing in SA as well.
in my humble opinion.
my point exactly rush.
the population is there but it still only small.
i think with smaller numbers of retailers it makes it easier to support them.
and pete your on the money, the state of windsurfing in SA is as strong as its been for years.
im just sorry i havent been around to help the process.
seeya all at seacliff tuesday arvo its gonna blow its balls.
It's great to see your website up and running Tony, looks like you've been very busy. You'd better take a break from web design and go for a sail this week with the forecast looking so good for seacliff.
Hope to see you on the water soon.
Marty
Thanks Marty,
The site is way off complete, but it's getting there.
Sorry to anyone who's having problems with the images loading slowly... I'm sorting it out as we speak. (Thanks Laurie).
The shopping cart feature and loads more products will be up soon!
Cheers,
Tony
