Having spent the weekend with our co-windlovers, the Kiters at Milang, great bunch of girls and guys, am really looking forward to more social interaction at Robe for the Easter Classic. It was great sailing with them last year, everyone looked out for each other, would be really good to catch up with them before the event and get to know them better - what about a social event for all of us wind lovers??? After all, we have a lot in common and it would be great to have some positive interaction.

True Dave but a gathering before Robe would be good. For the common good of wind/kite surfing people. Hey maybe some of the kiters would like to learn to windsurf!
There has been enough negativity on the forums lately, lets do something positive for both our sports.

Have to agree Robe is fun - broken toe, torn sail, broken battens - maybe this year will be better - but coming in over the back of waves to see three lots of strings all trying to maintain their ground and a sail board with nowhere to go but drop in the water for fear of losing your head - or resticting your very few opportunities to get a decent jump on the way out cause of 5 x 30 odd feet of string all around you - it's a recipe for disaster - a few cases of dropped kites with strings across wave zone - it makes the experience less enjoyable - I am sure they get annoyed when we maintain our line as per sailing right of way as well - or are plodding in the no wind zone stopping them from floating about in the air - I don't have a problem with kiters in general and have a few sailing friends that kite - but when ever possible I choose to sail where there are no kites - and keep away from them when I do providing that it doesn't detract from my sailing experience - particularly when there's more than a couple out.

Despite this I am happy to have a beer and a BBQ with any one - particularly if their sponsers are buying!

The comp zone at Robe this year will most definitely be segregated- it would be good for more of the kiters to understand where the windsurfers are coming from.. a beer and a snag and a chat would go a long way to helping us to understand each other

I thought last year worked well, was a bit sketchy at times, but everyone looked out for each other.

This years Robe comp is looking like it will be bigger than ever, so some clear direction / rules will need to be posted up so everyone knows what to expect,

Just did a bit of an email around. Might be able to get a bit of a crew together. Haven't been down that way for a while. Could be fun.

Kiters Downwind, Windsurfers Upwind, Simple.

There's lots of room at 3rd ramp and the kiters just look at it when they should be smackin it anyway.Downwind
