Hey Russ, I know Brett Gage at the BOM, hes a B&SYC yachty.
I asked him, he looked at his computer, and said, " Ah, the big red light is flashing, it must be broken.'!!! They will send a techky down there, well spotted, get back to work...............Brett also said next Tuesday is going to be very windy.
SOC, I just did similar and phoned the Beauro and spoke to a guy in the observations area who said the same and he would check it out with the techos.

while your having a chat to the folks at the BOM, can you ask for a tower or station at port mac?
the one at hindmarsh island is on the blink but at least there is one there!!
the nearest is at mt gambier airport, roughly 40km away inland, that would be like having the hindmarsh island one at say wistow or strathalbyn[}:)]
Hey Pilchard, i did ask them about if there was any plans for a weather station at Port Mac and the answer was no 
Apparently there used to me a manual one run by a volunteer but It ceased operating.
