Hi all,
Being from the UK now living in Genelg SA and after getting info from Mike at On-Board, today I went to check out Semaphore and Seacliff, very nice beaches, though I only saw kite-surfers at North Haven....
I am wondering where are the local windsurfing beaches that are regularly attended near here so one does not sail alone, including now in the winter time? And at what particular conditions are these beaches attended such as wind speed, at low or high tide, or time of day?
Many thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Come and join us for the State Titles in a few weeks (well best weekend in August yet to be decided) we can fill you in on all the spots and best conditions.
Semaphore is a great spot for windsurfing, great in summer for summer breezes (in fact you will get more time on the water if you head north in summer) Best in SW, NW and NNW - correct me if Im wrong northern beach dwellers
Seacliff, best on mid tide and SW, another great spot for Seabreezes in summer, as well as frontal systems in winter.
Mid Coast - Noarlunga , Seaford - Great in Northerlies, SW and here you will find a bit of swell, as well as most of the wave sailors in Adelaide,
Head south for bigger waves, Middleton (Day Street - which is actually Chapman Street?) best on NW and 2-3 foot of swell, perfect cross off, a little light on the inside, but perfect down the line wave sailing
Kent Reserve - Near Victor Harbor, sail from the mainland to Granite Island, best in a southerly, you will get waves, great rolling swells out the back here, very family friendly spot,
Other spots include, - Bashams, near Middeton, good in a SW (ive personally never sailed there - but Harry if always there, hes the bloke wearing a lifejacket)
- Snapper point, Aldinga Reef, great in High tide and Westerly winds, (doesnt get much better for a westerly spot, in fact dont go anywhere else)
- Sellicks Beach - Summer spot, SE cross off and a little wave.
Dave,
Hey Dave - some really useless information:
(Day Street - which is actually Chapman Street?)
Named after Day Avenue 200 metres up from the current car park - there was a car park and shed on the top of the sand hill that one of the surfboard riders clubs use to use - shed disappeared a long time ago, the car park was blocked 10-20 years ago or so but the name Day st (Surfers) stuck
Finished work early today and got to U-Turns around 3:45pm, few kites out but was very WNW, not inviting at all, only seemed about 15knots, lot of water moving around out there. Dark, Rainy, Cold, going to the pub instead.
North haven is a good spot when outer harbour reading is 25+ in n-nw. Fun for freestyle up against the wall. Any less head south because it's usually stronger down there.
