Hi Fletcher, Just been talking to Greg Johns about One Design racing, it's regaining numbers in Melbourne and Sydney with good fleets racing every weekend. They're still making the boards and rigs in Sydney. If anyone is interested in setting up a local racing scene, we can set up new complete boards and rigs for about $1800ish. It's also pretty cheap if you can hunt down an old one and they're still pretty competitive. I reckon Richard Upton might be keen. Cheers Pete

Hi Fletcher,

I wont be able to get to the Wally Nationals, but I am keen through Windsurfing SA (and who ever else can be roped in!) to provide a semi-regular venue for intermediate sailors and longboarders to get together for a bit of practice, course-racing and freestyle in lightish winds. Plans are still evolving but check the "Longboard Festival" thread - Part 2 of the Festival is this Sunday. At this stage I reckon equipment isn't so important - if we get enough numbers we can start forming classes but in the mean time we can use handicaps to reduce the effect of equipment differences. The Wally remains a very competent board no doubt about that!

Windsurfing SA is keen to provide something to fill the gap for those people between "just finished some lessons" and "let's go short-boarding" (Even for the good guys, the occasional session on a long board sharpens up balance, core strength and sail handling you know).

Regards, Richard
