Just starting a thread for todays race Saturday 23/03/13. The final race in the Summer series!
Briefing is at 2 pm, Race at 3 pm but might be delayed an hour or so pending wind.
Very wintery looking westerly wind stream today.
WSA membership is available on the day (for those who aren't already members) but please get their early to sign up to give the organisers plenty of time to set courses etc.
See you there!
Regards, Richard
Yep, a good win by Sam. I think it came down to Sam, Peter and myself on equal laps for the series at the start of the race, so it was wide open.
Wind was NW, and we delayed the start by 1/2 hour and I think picked up the best wind of the day. Most of us spent a lot of time planing, but it was tough race to keep speed up in the lulls and around the marks. Very physical.
In the end, Sam had the gear and skills to keep on the plane the longest, with Peter snapping at his heels. I was in with a chance provided both of them hit a carp, collapsed from exhaustion or broke something :-)
All in all I enjoyed this series, although we never had a day with huge wind for the whole race. It's a good format for Boggy lake I think. Looking forward to the next series. I got a clear picture of the best equipment for a given day after a bit of experimentation and observation during the series.
Thanks to Gareth and Michele for the beer, BBQ and prizes!
