Hello all. A subset of the organising committee conducted a debrief on the Wavesailing event recently held at Middleton. We looked at dates for a next comp this year but we had trouble due to volunteer holiday commitments or conflicts / too close to the Beachport event.

The idea of a Freestyle event for summer at Semaphore still has some interest. Would help to get some idea on how many would be interested. Please let me know if you are.

In terms of next comp, the revised format suggestion is:

1. Timing -
8:30am - Registration
9:00am - Briefing for all
Heat structures will be communicated at the briefing. This allows for flexibility based on prevailing conditions.

2. Split in to 2 groups:
a) Combined Heat - Masters + Juniors + Womens (no - they do not compete against each other)
b) Social + Open
The groups may be split further depending on the conditions, number of entries and number of judges.

3. We will obtain a combination of ribbons and tape to more easily identify competitors, in particular the large number of bald guys with red sails. You will be asked to uniquely identify your sail prior to the competition if required.

4. The officer of the day will wear a high visibility vest (beer may be required to compensate for the embarresment).

5. A list of mobile numbers will be collated prior to the day and regular updates provided by text on the day prior and the morning of the comp.

6. The megaphone will be used heavily, although not directly into peoples ears.

7. It is hoped we can find more judges somehow!

Based on the video footage and feedback it was perceived those involved had a great time. We need to ensure the structure allows for as much inclusion as possible through communication in advance. The new structure should avoid problems with competitors missing out due to decision making on the day.

Hi Guy's
We're still keen to get into the Beachport October longweekend!
The October longweekend at Beachport has been a lot of fun for many years and we've had some great competitive and social sailing. The event started out a speed sailing and racing event and grew to include wavesailing and SUP.
My thoughts are to make the weekend a social wave, speed and sup get together!
The social element of the Beachport comp in my opinion is really what it's all about. I'm keen to hear everyones thoughts and Onboard and myself are stoked to support the weekend with tents, beers, BBQ's etc!
Is anyone keen to help run the weekend? Are we happy to have a Social Windsurfing and SUP weekend at Beachport and just run a comp if the conditions suit?
Keen for everyones thoughts...

Cheers Pete - ONBOARD SURF

Appreciate the effort that Pete and the crew put in - maybe have a more relaxed weekend - this year a purely social weekend to sail and surf etc when and where you want is what I'm looking forward to.

Personally would like to check out a few different surf and sail spots down the coast this year if the opportunity arises - Beachport "the Search"

geez, your only a blow in. been here 5 minutes and taking over

I'll provide the enterainment. Stir the boys up at the Rocks for some excitment. I wouldn't bring your family Pillies way, it could get ulgy.
