The womens windsurfing day is on - WOMSAIL 09 - on the Monday 9th March (WOMAD long weekend)

After much deliberation and realisation that the water at Milang was just too low - a group decison has been made.

West Lakes was chosen due to the number of new windsurfers involved and the ease of rescue and recovery of anyone that may get into trouble. We held a come and try day there in December and it was a great spot for learning and has a playground and toilets

Plan is to kick off at 11:00 Tiranna Way westlakes (the playground and recreation area)

Some of the experienced women sailors have offered to provide a few tips on gear selection, rigging your sails and getting up and moving and basic turns. Plans for some harness and strap technique for the more experienced women sailors may well be on hold dependant on the wind - we may have to have another day at a more open water location to do this.

Sausage sizzle around 13:00 (1pm)

Pack up around 3pm

A few large boards should be available for those without gear - if you have a big board bring it along.

we will post a flyer in the next few days

PM ssaws for more details or offers of assistance!

Remember this is a social group of windsurfers getting together to help out women and girls with there windsurfing with a bit of help from the local windsurfing industry so everyone is giving up there own time cause they love the sport and want to see more women involved!

We plan on doing this again early in the summer season next year so keep your eye on the forums.

See you there

well done Chris - contact us if you need some help - spoke to a few people at Seacliff this afternoon that are heading down with their wives, daughters and friends - looks like a good day the weather gods may just smile on us.

Just have to say - How much fun was Seacliff this arvo - some nice lumps out the back and on the reef - great to see so many crew blasting wind sure went ballistic again around 5 for a while - some big air, back hand waves and great stacks as well.

See ya all Monday!

IF YOU HAVE A BIG BOARD YOU CAN ACCESS

PLEASE BRING IT DOWN TO WESTLAKES ON MONDAY OR PM ME TO SEE IF WE CAN ARRANGE TO COLLECT IT - THE MORE GEAR THE BETTER - BREAK OUT THE OLD TYRONSEAS, STARTS AND FUNSTERS IF YOU HAVE THEM SITTING IN THE SHED

WE WANT TO GET AS MANY WOMEN AND GIRLS ON THE WATER AS WE CAN - AND LET THEM SPEND AS LONG AS POSSIBLE ON THE WATER GETTING THE FEEL FOR WINDSURFING

CHEERS,

RUSSH

Hey rus... we got couple big boards (unfortunately no techno this time which got me planning last time in nothing lol!!!) which im sure we can bring down again with small sails. I reckon Ive convince the older sister to come down but she still considering it ha ha , shell just be sitting at home anyway if she doesn't come. Are there going to be many other girls around the 17+ish mark do you know??

Bubs

P.S:
Also tried convincing mum but she said "i'll come down but i only want to watch lol"!!! not a chance in hell, she tried learning in west lakes many years ago when parents first were going out and got stuck over the other side. not being a water person she panicked and never tried again ha ha. Sisters a bit more able than that thank god.

That would be great if you can Bubs - sure can do with all the boards we can get our hands on -

of course anyone that hasn't got one one could always head in to one of the local retailers and purchase one - they are great fun for learning all your basic freestyle moves when the wind is light with a small sail and you just want to get on the water.

I am sure the shops wouldn't mind!

Vikki and I'll be coming down, I have a 330 trysonsea in the shed I'm happy to bring down with a rig but I need a mast base for it with a tryonsea pin. Anyone have one of these relics laying around which we could use for the day?

The tyronsea pins fit nicely into the Chinook bases with the dual sliding pins - I used to use them with the old tyronsea I had. - there is a picture in the gallery from the last week or two.

Hey bubs, my daughter and a few of her girlfriends are coming, they are not a lot older early twenties, she would fit right in.

Exactly, thats a great idea. The good thing about beginner boards is that they seem to retain their value cos everyone has a friend who wants to learn.
