Clive has a good idea - a swap meet at Semaphore next Saturday afternoon starting at 2:30pm - just South of the playground & kiosk.
Keen to know who might be interested, if they are likely to be buyers or sellers, and if there is a different preferred date. Also worth mentioning if you are more into wavesailing, slalom or long board gear.
Please respond to this forum with your thoughts. Not worth having it if no one is available or there are all sellers & no buyers etc....![]()
Good idea. Perhaps the timing may be better suited to the start and end of the summer season, as I'd imagine folks would tend to upgrade at the beginning of a season? I don't have the luxury of buying gear at will, so I normally save up the $$ over winter. I guess at the end of a season folks could be looking to offload in readiness for next years model?
Based on feedback I suggest end of March might be a good first try, and the idea of setting one up in late October or early November also seems good. Keep the feedback coming!
The swap meet is not only about buying/selling current gear, but also about bringing along all that unused gear in your garage that might find a new home. This is a great way of encouraging new folk into the sport that are discouraged by the high cost of new gear (or even getting someone to buy their first shortboard at a giveaway price).
We could also open it up to the kiteboard crew??!!!!
Given the forecasted wind on Saturday arfo; this weekend is not the best and Geoff's suggestion of late March might be better.
What do you reckon are the chances that I would get a leg of lamb for a pack of sausages at a swap meat!!
Lets go for a March date. Can discuss meat burning - seems like a good idea.
Not sure who would provide the 'free goon'. Will resurect topic in March....
