Heading to Mount Gambier this weekend. Pilly, HAAK, Ty, based on your experience do you think it would be worth taking gear with the current forecast and if so where would be best to go with the forecast direction?

hey bondy, sorry mate havent been online for a few days and sorry things dont look that flash with the wind unless you have big gear! was going to be 20k wsw earlier in the weeks forcasting for saturday but there saying 15-20k sw which is a bit iffy. swell is good though 3-4m which i equate to 3-4 foot.
i only sail at the point danger end of browns bay on a stormy sw and its best with 4m+ of swell coz the swell tapers off at that end.
4m of swell is generaly 2 foot on the sets, sw is side shore at the point and side onshore at browns middle.
sunday looks worse still windwise but still swelly
lots of pubs = lots of pale ale lol
love to have a sail with ya in the future in more favourable conditions

Hey Pilly, thanks for the reply. I brought gear incase but woke up in the mount to notice it was crap so went back to bed. Left big sail at home, too cold for an average sail. I'll let u know next time I'm coming down. I'll try pick a windy weekend. [:)

no probs any time, to be honest winter sailing here is on par with robe and beachport, but summer offers big point breaks and some real shapey reef breaks that work on the sea breezes. robe generaly is a bit windier but its a beachy. sometimes we get the seabreeze on the same day robe does but we often get it the next day and for an extra day if that makes sense?
im sure theres crew out there that think im wrecking a few little known secret spots but they realy aint populated at all, and im always excited to sail in a group.

Home and ready to go Pilly.
8 days out of 10, me no complain
Balian had some of the biggest wave I've seen in awhile.

Might have a look at the Lighthouse at the Rocks if NW. Hope the bikies are not in town.

Always the way Pilly, good the weekend after you go somewhere
I had a look around port Mac on Sat, could have sailed but nothing looked overly exciting in the onshore so spent the time with my daughters, which was the purpose of visting the mount.

Noticed the outer reefs breaking off Riddoch bay on Sunday when the swell was bigger. Looks like it would be fun jumping on the right wind direction?

yeah always the way bondy and no ive never sailed riddock bay. was it a bombie or a point break? always a bit sus on venturing out when im unsure of the bottom depth but i too have seen it big on a w-nw and it looked inviting.
thats 8 more days than me since youve been gone HAAK its probably been ok on weekdays tho'. im thinking sunday at this stage, swell looks better and wind a bit steadier from the west. wont rule out the rocks but!

Forecasting 30 > 40 knots, might have to bring a camera along.
Pinchy might be ok if it gets around to the west. Skate park may also be an option.
Text me when your going.
