North Haven was pumping this morning. Solid 20 - 25 knots with surf larger than I have seen there in a long time, cross shore.![]()
It was a spare of the moment thing. We were driving down wouth early in the morning, just got to the Southern expressway and the readings dropped down south and picked up at outer harbour. We took a gamble and headed there. Got windy not long before we arrived at 7:45am...
I ended up at Goolwa lake to try out some new gear. Arrived at 9am. Whilst the obs were consistently about 25 and gust to 30 knts at Hindmarsh Island, it didn't feel that strong and ended up bailing.
Kent Reserve at Victor was OK, out on a 5.0 with the 84L board, few jumps out the back, but the wind kept dropping out, so maybe not as good as other spots but the Mid was about 5knots so heaps better than that.

It was at least 7 knts at U turns when Sam & I sailed it - the waves were fun ![]()

I'm sure there's something wrong with that Goolwa windmeter, constantly does me over....![]()

Hmm ... my only explanation is that the sand hills provide some protection with the wind in that direction and the windmeter at hindmarsh island is probably elevated .. but it certainly didnt feel like gusts to 30 knts anywhere in the area.
