Hi I know this is not the sailing forum but was at Milang on the weekend and the guys in the local sailing club have 4 wooden holdfast trainers for sale which are wooden fully rigged kids training sailing boats for ages 7 or 8 upwards. They only want $250 each. I thought someone with kids might be interested.

Well, as to your question. The kitesurfers were between the spit and the jetty.
You could see stumps and things sticking up everywhere. Straight out from the jetty is remains of the old jetty, three things sticking up. The depth was just over knee deep there. The mud was about 2 feet deep and black. I will post a piccy soon to show you. At the end of the spit it was deeper (not much) and you couldn't see any stuff sticking out. It would probably be ok there, in fact on Sunday there was a kid learning to windsurf on it.
The wind would have to be the right direction cos if you couldnt go upwind you could end up in the area full of junk. The locals have said that they have been removing the junk as the areas become dry and they are waiting for the tide to go out further to do such as it will then be easier. Dean sailed from the end of the spit and across and so did Chris from Renmark (lady). He said his fin hit quite a few times over the other side but directly at the end of the spit was ok. I didnt sail. oowee goowee. (and not that windy)
Also, 4 wheel drives were continually getting bogged on the way out. If you knew where you were going it was ok, one or 2 two wheel drives got out there, but if you were in the wrong spot you were up to the axles in black mud. The guys had a lot of fun getting cars out, winches etc.
The local yacht club would be supportive if we decided to have anything there. Social membership is only $25. They were really great to the kiters. Milang is a really great spot, just a shame there is no water.
