stress not Chris!

I rang them and they said Tuesday is quietish - if you want to use the "facility "room it's $300 - yep $300 - I declined their generous offer.

If they get p***ed off cause 30 people (I'm guessing 12 -15 max) - want to drink their beer and talk about windsurfing too bad.

Lets just turn up have a beer maybe a feed and a chat and see what happens - if it doesn't work out next time we'll try the Esplanade or another night somewhere else.

Not a bad turn out at all, I counted 21 -22 people, a few things agreed on, insurance and membership with windsurfing SA was the main one, but all dates and events as discussed in first meeting were agreed. Russ, you better post up the minutes, as it was pretty loud wherever I sat / stood.

We missed you Tony!

Bring on Summer!

That sounds like a pretty good turn out.

Cheers Dave, I'll drink twice as much at the next one to make up for it!

I'm guessing the West Lakes event is the next date on the calendar?

Thanks to everyone who turned up and participated - must say Chris' junior rep was a bit quiet.

Looks like S.A.SocialWS NOT SocialS.A.WS - MY MISTAKE

Great to see crew turn up -wide variety age and gender - yeah a bit noisy and hard to hear / have a discussion - might review venue lovcation - was a nice spot to watch the sunset though.
After Lunch I will try and post a wrap up of discussions - how did I get to be the one to have the pleasure of doin this? (happy to really)

Cheers,

Russell

Please action accordingly!

Great to see such positive input though. It certainly looks like you are the right man for the job Russ.

Above is the link for the Windsurfing SA membership form. It appears insurance is covered until the 30th June, so I assume this is when membership runs from and to. John Rhode will call me to confirm this.

Cheers,

Chris.

SASWS Discussion 11/11/2008 (7pm)

Crew Present (sorry if we missed anyone)– Chris Hale, Gemma, Richard and jenny Upton, Chris Wade and family, Susie Burgher, Dean King, Gareth Williams Heidi Bell, Vikki and Marty Sellar, Dave Lane, Josh Fletcher and Kerris, Simon, Mark Horne, Pete Boerma, Russell Hunt, Mark Horne, Brett Spiers.

Held at the Seacliff Hotel in good humour with a beer in hand.

1. December 7th family windsurf and bbq – we’re going ahead – Tirrana Way Westlake’s – from 10ish. A few snags on the BBQ and some drinks – shade tent – bring a picnic rug, esky with some snacks. Not sure how things will pan out but it’s trial run. Off to semaphore for a sail in the afternoon if the Seabreeze is kicking in.
a. Aim is to let those that don’t sail to have a go
b. Be respective of the surroundings and residents
c. Have fun
d. Not discussed – arrival of a father xmas for the kids – volunteer anyone

2. Insurance and injury risk to all involved – after discussion is overwhelmingly supported that windsurfers join Windsurfing SA so everyone is protected. For $40 bucks (the cost of a 2 meals and 2 beers at the Seacliff) – Chris was checking out how the year works ($40 for 6 months? Can we sort something out with John Rhodes) ultimately you need to be registered to sail in the events at Robe etc. Nobody wants to have costs associated with this but personal litigation at an social event is a concern for all.

3. Sticker, Hoodies or T shirt with club logo etc – agreed to wait and see how things pan out over the next few months and see what Daves design crew can come up with.

4. Flyers – plenty of enquiries about the day – will do some double sided flyers with Family sail detail and Robe Australia day details – drop some at
Glascraft and Onboard with contact details via hotmail or Chris H’s Mobile number!
5. Juniors – discussed a lack of juniors around windsurfing and how can we get some involved – decided a bit early to work on just yet and we’ll look at this in the future – discussed the potential of Windsurfing SA’s promoting this – watch this space
6. Women’s windsurfing – there’s a healthy number of women sailing and we going to work hard to get them along to events to help push each other and share some tips. If you know any women who either do sail or use sail or want to sail get them involved was the word – Susie was happy to provide us with some guidance on any issues.

7. Australia Day – Discussion as to whether another weekend may be better – Robe pretty busy and a gets cheaper and possibly windier (anecdotal evidence no study on wind/days/month provided). Decision was to aim for Australia Day weekend – we’ll turn up have an expression session each day or the best wind day – this will be a first event so anyone with experience in these events was welcome to help out

8. Email list organised to mail out info and recommended that crew log a profile onto Seabreeze – to keep up to date.

9. Suggestion of getting the KI marathon up and running again – to be discussed another day! –

If I missed anything out please add via a Seabreeze post or via SSAWS08 PM

X mas beers and reflection on how the family day went planned for the Tuesday 16th December 7pm at the Seacliff again. (you can start saving for dinner now)

Everyone hung out for a while, chatted and had afew beers afterwards – well done everyone and see you next time

Sounds like a lot was discussed, all very important. Pitty i couldnt make it sorry, very dissapointed. middle of yr 12 exams for my sister (getting help from parents at times), maths test next day and starting report writing for both my parents didn't really fit to well for us midweek lol. But anything holidays and weekends i'm defently up for.

See you at west lakes anyway, oh and also anyone heading to milang this saturday...

If you get a chance have a read of this from Windsurfing Australia.
www.windsurfing.org/insurance.htm has some helpful stuff that I hadn't found before.

Covers insurance with SA windsurfing registration including committe / event organisers. It is important that we have some safety guidelines documented for events and things like a first aid plan, rescue plan etc and "temporary" membership for non windsurf SA members.

Thanks to Chris for following stuff up with Ian Fox and to Windwanderes QLD for some feedback as well.

Working on the mail out list - will post something in near future re 7th December
