ok lets have another try. this time only comment if your generally interested! its about time everyone who wants to help organise a event get together. i know that there are heaps of people who are really keen to get a states happening! i know for a fact that we will be able to get backing from sponsors! and i KNOW that with some good preperation and good weather we could hold a really really aewsome event. september seems to be the month! i think windsurfing SA membership should be a must for insurance purposes. other then that lets get some ideas rolling and have a meeting/talk **** about windsurfing night.... WHO'S WITH ME!

I'm keen and happy to organise something again in the next couple of weeks on a saturday night - maybe make a plan, have a few few beers, sausage sizzle and some Maui footage from Dave if we can get a projector. September is just over five weeks away which gives us precious little time.

We need buy in from as many as possible and get it going very soon - and we can still have an expression session / bbq in August like we planned.

Quite a few I have spoken too would be keen, some have suggested that their is a few long term friendly rivalries that would make for some great sailing and I would guestimate around 30 competitors in possibly an open, social and womens division (if we have enough). cost would have to cover AWA membership (if not a member) and some cover charge for incidentals (beer sausages etc)

Sponsors would be a bonus - but if we want to claim it as states we need to consider AWA-SA windsurfing approval / backing otherwise it would have to be the unofficial states.

how does Saturday the 1st of August sound for a planning night / discussion - venue to be decided (SOMEWHERE CHEAP, SAFE AND FAMILY FRIENDLY)

I'll come along and be the cute little dog sitting on the beach getting pats from all the women...

Just look for me. I have the little brown love heart patch on my back.

If it's cold, just look for the shakin' dog!!!

Was thinking about approaching the Moana SLSC there is a good room thats open saturdays and sundays till about 5. If crew have a few beers etc during the meeting on a saturday arvo the SLSC makes some money on the bar and via the kitchen (nice meals and chippies). I have asked before and they were happy but need to ask again.

Was thinking early afternoon - after a surf or a sail if the northerlies are on

what do crew think.

No probs Chris will check out venue Sat and email the sasws email list, and post something here. Hopefully the Windsurf SA insurance and fee structure will be sorted and we can add it to the 09/10 calender

Anyone please feel free to give us a yell if your keen to help out or got some ideas we are far from experienced at getting these things up and running so we seriously would appreciate any input - especially if you've been involved in contests - we're trying to get this up to promote the sport so every little bit of assistance and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Will post some more info after the weekend.

I'll be in it and I know others that will be too, most just want to go in it for a fun social sail and to support Windsurfing SA.

Hi goeff - nice to see some more interest - we will post some more stuff possibly Sat night after we sort out a possible meeting location.

On the SASWS calender we were aiming for an expression session on the 8th or 9th of August (if conditions were good) - we may still go ahead and just make it super casual with a sausage sizzle and a few beverages for a couple of bucks - all the organisers have been injured, travelling or just busy and we havn't got together to finalise it.

So keep an eye out later in the weekend.

Unfortunately the Moana SLSC weren't open today - I'll check them tomorrow.

Fingers crossed we get some waves for the session like everyone was getting at Day St today - hard work but good fun everyone was getting some good ones in 5-30 knts of very offshore nnw!!!

Will post some details tomorrow If I have any luck with a venue for the 1st or 2nd of August so we can make a decision on date and do some planning regarding comp format, divisions etc - and what we need to do in the next 6 weeks to get them underway.

Sorry but the club was closed again today - not sure whats going on - didn't go past till 330 and it was locked up tight.

Not sure where to meet. I am happy to organise something at my place (Seaford - big enclosed outdoor area with heating) Saturday arvo from 230pm bring a beer and we'll torch a few sausages and make some plans for the event - unless there are any alternative venues

PM me and I'll forward the address if your keen - will email sasws list from hotmail account -

what do ya think

Hi All - we are going to have a planning meeting at the Mid Coast (Seaford Rise)for the wave titles and finalise whether or not we can get them up and running in September.

contact ssaws2008@hotmail.com.au for location or send a Personal Email to me via seabreeze (have emailed address to SASWS email list)

(SLSC at moana was closed so its at a private residence)

Bring a sausage or two, a cold ale and catch up with some crew and lets see if we can get it off the ground.

Agenda will be

Comp format,(heats vs expression session + final) expression session the preferred option from most crew)
divisions,
location and dates
minimum forecast to call it.
Sign on cost (WSA fee + $10 or so)
Safety
Judging
Prizes?
Sponsorship opportunities
Publicity ????
Event coordinator

Followed by beer, a sausage and general banter and if we can get a projector some windsurf footage from Maui (hope thats still ok dave) and the Windsurf movie or something

If we can get this up and running this weekend I reckon we can do it - this is the last chance to get it happening before the winter northerlies disappear. If not I am going to forget about the whole process and just going sailing (after my rib repairs in 6 weeks)

Cheers

RussH

Yep indeed I did

- 3rd rib slightly displaced fracture at the side & possible bit of a crack across where cartlidge meets bone near sternum - sounds like the crack pop noise I heard was my rib not my boom! - no wonder it was freakin hurtin when I tried to get ready for work - was worse today than yesterday - finally went to the docs today and it was very obvious on xray -I nearly pass out when I sneeze as its a little unomfortable. 6 weeks off the water - bugger

Bloody hell Russ, that looks nasty!

I will be over this afternoon to grab your SUP, your 104 ltr board (and your 6.4 ) , you wont be needing them for a month or so, dont want them gathering dust do you?

I so feel your pain! Same thing happened to me last year, 1 and ahlf weeks into a three week trip to Maui, sitting on the beach watching everyone else sail was nice, but could have been better!

Finally I get the SUP mast base for the Chinook connection and now I cant use it for 5 or so weeks - gonna get my hands on a video recorder and play movie maker if its good over the next few weeks
