Ok SA wave sailing enthusiasts - after a lot of discussion, phone calls, and too-ing and fro-ing eight wavesailing enthusiasts - young, old and in between got together and put some ideas on paper. Below is the SSAWS calander of BBQ's and other events agreed to by the group.
If you think you would like to be involved PM the SSAWS via seabreeze.
The key things discussed were - 12 months try out, ???alignment with Windsurfing Aus, make it social, fun, involve as many people from the high jumping looping wave experts to first time wave novices, get as much time on the water as possible, minimal once only costs for ssaws events, friendly and most importantly - some high jumping, lip smacking wavesailing too push everyones sailing to a higher level. Participation is the key.

The continuation of events and changes to formats and locations will be dependant on participation levels and sailor feedback. Remeber everyone is volunteering there time to get something happening and your support is the key to its success.
Thanks to both our local retailers for there show of support and offer of assistance with some of the essentials and everyone that managed to take time out of their busy lives to attend the start up meeting
We're in. You can count us in to throw in Beer and BBQ supplies!!! It's awesome to see a crew thats keen to get things fired up. Cheers Pete
Awesome... this is the best thing that's happened for windsurfing in this state for years!
It's definitely got my support.
"Social" will probably have more appeal than "Sausages"!
If you didn't make it to the meeting, you missed some interesting suggestions!

Cheers Pittsy
At least you chose the Holidays come to think of it I might have my P's by then ![]()
I did relies that it was at west lakes but I might struggle a bit if I go to any other wave sessions But see how I go in the holidays.
I have to give back My Bic Techno Rig it a few weeks so I might not have a rig by then as I will be pretty busy with school and exams but I will see how I go with that. But it would like t try out some other rigs before I buy so this could be a good day for me
Cheers Pittsy

Great news! I'll do my best to get to these events, but if you make me try and jump on a starboard tack it could get ugly![]()
(Unfortunately I'll miss the 1st event because I'll be OS.)
seems like there is some interest in progression through out the forum pages.
i work as a windsurfing instructor and have done so over the past 5 years, been windsurfing for 12 or so years.
if anyone is keen to organise/join in on a progression day im more then happy to help out and im sure theres a few guys around that would be happy to help get you out in the waves.
we could form a phone base if anyone is keen to meet at bauer road and so on.
just a thought
The idea of a few instructional days in the waves would be great!! I'd love to join in!! Learning to loop ahhh that does sound like fun!!
Hi, I think a SocialSAWavSailors group is a great idea. I'd like to put forward a suggestion based on some previous experience.
The idea is to meet at a pub around 6:30 for a counter meal and social get together on the first Monday night of the month.
The intention is to talk about sailboarding, swap ideas, learn from others, help newbies and have a few laughs.
Ideally the pub would have a function room that we could use at no charge; even better if there's a DVD player and video projector and enough room for show and tell! I'd suggest a pub in the Brighton/Seacliff area which is sort of central for those up North and those living way down South.
With this arrangement there's no President, Secretary, Treasurer, assets or club bull****. If the response to my suggestion is favourable, I suggest we just go ahead and do it, (I'm happy for a different night). Anyone know of a suitable pub (I'm in Melbourne for a month or I'd look around), cheers, Andy
Sounds fair - every month might be a bit too much for some - second monthly sounds good. A central pub around seacliff Brighton would be good - or swap between noprth central and south.
The other stuff you disccussed is pretty much where everyone at the meeting was coming from.
Hopefully everyone is keen to get another meeting together later in November.
i think early november is better rus! feed back has been good. lots of people having great ideas! early while people are still keen. i think you could run it second monthly and see what people think. ![]()
