SA Summer GPS Series.
Starboard are the proud sponsors of this competition. You can sail anywhere + anytime throughout Summer in South Australia and post your track to either GPSSS.com or GTC or email them to me, and I will collate all the tracks and information over the Summer and provide a result at the end of the season. Highest numbers across the board win.......but it's not about winning, it's about getting out there and having fun.
Divisions of 2 sec, 5x10sec, NM, 1Hr, Alpha 500 + Distance. Highest results per category are then totalled for each competitor to provide a 'point' score for the season. These will then form a ranking at the end of the season.
You must be a current financial member of Windsurfing SA or affiliate - contact me on chris@dimond.com.au and I can provide the paperwork.
Trackpoint only (as I know some sailors have GPS units that are not doppler enabled).
So get out there, and get your speed up and your distance.
Any queries then give me a call - 0419 035 031.
Chris are you going to enter this as an "event" on the GPSSS site? it will make it easier doing so when collecting the data.
Hi Choco,
Yep, I'm already onto it mate. Hope the Barmera boys are keen to be a part of this?
Cheers,

Here are the results for the half-way mark of the SA GPS Summer Series, proudly sponsored by Starboard.
These results have been taken from all South Australians that post their GPS session to either GPS Team Challenge, or GPS Speedsurfing. At the end of the race series (end of Feb) anyone here who has not updated their membership to Windsurfing SA will not be shown in the final standings.
These are excellent results given that we've only been sailing in sea breezes, and have not had any frontal winds for months now. No surprises that Sam Doecke is leading the way, but there's a few of us that are hot on his heels.
Keep posting, and of course, new entrants are welcome.
Everyone, please ensure your Windsurfing SA membership is paid up and current. It is a requirement of this GPS Summer Series that you be a current member of Windsurfing SA.
As at 15th Feb 2009, the following people have valid membership:
1. Hamish Bubner
2. Chris Dimond
3. Anthony Hamood
4. Simon Lahiff
5. Meta Sindos
6. Scott Blackham
7. Tom Karmel
8. John Rohde
Thanks.
Final Results for the SA GPS Summer of Speed proudly sponsored by Starboard.
Well done to SAM DOECKE for winning this event. No surprises that he sailed consistently well throughout the summer to take out the event title.
The competition ran from 1 Dec 2008 to 28 Feb 2009. There were 132 sessions posted during that time, with 19 sailors contributing to the competition by submitting their gps tracks. Of these 19 sailors, 9 were current members of Windsurfing SA, so they are eligible to be recorded in the final results.
Locations sailed during this compeition were: Goolwa, Milang, Lake Bonney, Boggy Lake, Murray Mouth, Lake George, Kingston Park, Chicken Shop, Semaphore, Seacliff Park, Christies Beach and Sellicks Beach.
Sessions posted were David Mossop 16, Meta Sindos 14, Sam Doecke 13, Hamish Bubner 10, Anthony Hamood 8, Simon Lahiff 7, Richard Upton 6, Chris Dimond 6, Tim Hemer 5.
A bbq (with bevvies) will be organised soon, funded by Starboard - all who participated in this competition are welcome to attend and enjoy.
Thank you to all who took part in this GPS event.

thanks Chris for doing all the leg work and collating all results.
See You all at the BBQ
