Hello!
Heading to SA from Melbourne with the family these school holidays. A buddy from RPS said that Robe is great for a sail and that I should take my gear. But I can't take it all with me so I have to pick and choose to suit the usual expected conditions.
Can take a slalom or a wave board, but not both, and have a quiver to suit pretty much everything.
Most of my sailing is bay stuff on Port Phillip, so am not really great in the surf. But can get though it. And I love a speed blast at Sandy Point.
So, what should it be? Is it 20 knot seabreeze territory, for example?
And bummed that I will miss the Easter Classic. :(
Someone else said that the lakes as ok for a flat water blat, but can be a bit weedy. Is this worth looking at?
Cheers
John
Hi John, I am a beachport local by late march the SE seabreezes are hit and miss, usually easter is the last hoorah, I would base at Beachport as there is options for all wind directions and robe is only 30 mins away, just bring the slalom and a range of sails, the lake will be quite low by then and a weedy would certanly help even the bay has has lots of weed floating around, more bump and jump at beachport unless the wind goes W to NW then waves are on. if you have a 4wd drive there are also plenty dunes to check out, I will be in Tassie then so won't be around.
but back for Easter.
Thanks, guys.
Prob won't be able to do the trailer, so will play it safe with some slalom gear with 4.7 –> 5.8 sails.
Will report back when it's all done!
Cheers
John
sailed the lake george today you WILL NEED A WEED FIN to sail there but the water is flat as,
I would be chucking in a 6.7 sail as well. but if no room I should have a spare one.
