SSE kicked in mid afternoon to be planing 50% of the time on a 5.3m. Waves didnt pick up as much as I had hoped given Cape du Couedic at over 3m and 14 second period -the s/sw swell just didnt want to fill into the bay. Waves were inconsistent and a bit small - some about head high.
Nice to see someone else making the trip from Adelaide - even if they did break their mast.
You didn't miss anything today Paul. 3rd ramp was off shore and flat![]()
Ended up north of Stoney Rise, not great but got wet.
Should of stayed home. Head high yesterday in 15 > 20 knots.
I here the Long beach $5 levy was hit on the head by council during the week, happy days.
Geoff, a bagger is a tea bagger or in professional terms....a kite surfer..
Not sure about the guy i saw kitsurfing one night at the chicken shop wearing speedos!!......maybe he would be described as a nut bagger or maybe a ball bagger!! ![]()
pil, john, maris and unknown to me other fella. fun size channel.
i seen a red flash fanging over the reef at the surfing spot upwind of the bend or channel and i was thinking wow hows he not eating it into the reef
, then later i discover a text asking me where do i sail here?![]()

Pilly,
Had a surf with John yesterday, the other fella was Liam. (Macca)
One of the crew from back in the day, did he have cobb webs hanging off his gear![]()
Wish I had of been there![]()
Have you tried the bombie at Jones? Had a ball there a couple of weeks ago, nice size.
Hey Maris, let me know when your in the area next, I'll show you around.
Grumpy, aka HaaK
where were ya Grumpy and Ty??
that'd b appreciated - like Pillie said- i needed a bit of showing around??!!
Nene definately a great fun spot- kinda spotx/corros; easy drive.
thanks to Steve D too- busted my powerex on friday would've been a non starter without the loan of his.
Maris,
One weekend a year a town near Robe conducts a huge field day, Last weekend was it. To get some brownie points I help wifey to pack up her stand.
If I knew we were going to be visited by royalty I would have made some excuse to get out of it![]()
I here you went flying out over the reef up wind of the channel, lucky you didn't break gear.
Always best to drive onto the beach downwind from where you set up.
We pretty much have very wind direction covered except North with in 5 km's of where you set up. Not always down the line but good fun.
Not only has it been a windless summer, it's the worst I've seen the sea weed on the beach as well. Ah well, I suppose it's a trade off for some huge swell at times.
Grumpy
sorry by the way maris i was already in the soup when you called.
drove the 4x4 way from pebbles to nene and was near pooing myself half way around jones's bay, i didnt let my tyres down so i had to give it to her.
what end do you bag on at jones grumps?
stopped on the hard sand at the western end of jones's and let the car chill for a bit and let my heart beat rest a bit while waiting for my dog to catch up, the wind was a fair bit stronger there and still side shore. seems maris isnt the only one needing direction and ive been here for 4 years.
hope to see you soon ty.

Yeah that bay catches a few punters out. Thats why I've got the Quad, goes anywhere.
If I'm in the ute the Valley end of the bay, prob were you stopped to catch ya breath . Normally can drive there from Nene in 2 wheel drive. "No go during winter".
Good waves straight out but I tack up wind (on S.E.)to the center of the bay to the big bombie about 1 k out, happy times![]()
Great down winder from there back to the channel / black rock. "Bring on winter"
I guess you will be out of the water for awhile when the new rag rat arrives.
It's a wave ride but can be fat, depends on the tide and swell.
I've had 3 or 4 bottom turns out of it before it goes back into deep water.
It's part of the channel reef that runs all the way from the valley channel through to Jones.
