Hi All
I am new to the forum but am certainly having fun reading the oldest and latest threads. Its all very educating for a newbie like me. A lot of the information appears to be very subjective and I would image confusing for other newbies around the country.
Someone needs to write a small modern book that is objective and injects some transparency and clarity into the science of the gear used in this sport. (JMTCW)
Anyway I started windsurfing this summer using some old gear and am now looking at buying a proper rig. I have a Starboard Go and am having a ball being a freerider. I came across this the other day and would like peoples expert opinion of the deals on offer. Are the rig packages good value or are they just so so / rubbish
Obviously my knowledge is not great nor is my budget. I look forward to your comments................Thanks

What makes windsurfing stand apart from other sports, is the user is apart of the machine. Unlike a car where you sit in it and drive it without applying any force to it's propulsion (other than the accelerator and steering wheel), a car will have similar handling experiences across various users. This isn't the case for Windsurfing. There are rules of thumb, but at the end of the day, you have to discover what equipment and techniques work for you. It's a long journey. It can be expensive sometimes (I brought a quiver of sails once that didn't suit me). Took me a few years to work out what works for me, and even then, that is slowly evolving.
Regarding the article: the gear looks very cheap, but Bic is a question mark. I've never seen a Bic rig. Although, some of the older sailors hold Bic boards and the Bic brand in high regard.
If they are like the pens and lighters they make it's a very good chance it will all get borrowed and never returned!
Back in the day bic stuff was quite heavy but cant comment nowadays
LMO, I forgot to say. Post this question on the General Forum. There may be users who have experience with this brand's model.
