Hi there
I stopped w/surfing in 1996. At the time I was a reasonable flat water sailor, could jibe, water start. I had a bic presto, then a tiga 268 and yellow polakow custom slalom. A range of slalom and race sales from 4 to 7m with cams. I used to sale at goolwa near the barrages, black point and lake George.
Anyway, I'd like to get back into it. Probably sailing at boggy to start with. Flats water rather than waves. I'm a big boy. 130kg but fairly fit.
Gear has has changed a lot. I'm trying to catch up, but there isn't even a sa shop anymore to go to!
It was recommended to me to get a larger volume board, about 160l, to start with and around a 7.5m sale for a 15-25kn range. Also to see if anyone had any second hand gear so I could get a feel for it again before spending serious coin.
id welcome any views or suggestions pls. Also if anybody has any such second hand gear for sale? Thanks!!
Hello and welcome back. I reckon there's a few guys in the General Forum your weight. I recommend you pop the same message in the General Forum. Best of luck and probably see you down at Boggy ![]()
Cheers J
welcome back i am also 130 + you will need at least a 8.5 sail and rig for 16 to 20 knots a 9.5 will be better and then 7.5 for stronger winds.a 150 to 160 l board like a exite ride will be good but get flighty in rough water .be care full as a lot of boards at this volume are learner boards or formula boards and not that great .i find old fashion boards easier to ride and plane all depends how flat your water is.if some one wants to sell you some thing and they ant your weight they really dont know or understand.
