I am a windsurfer (wave) from Holland (Europe). In July 2014 I'll go to visit some friends in Moana. According to the Windsurf Guide, Moana and Seacliff are (can be) good winter spots for wave sailing - recommendations of other good spots in SA are welcome-.

I prefer to rent gear in Australia in stead of taking my own gear in the plane. Do you guys know if and where I can rent windsurf gear near Moana (or in Adelaide where my flight arrives)?

Thanks

You are better off bringing as much as possible, then either borrow the rest of buy secondhand and sell when you leave. Winter we are normally sailing with 5.5 / 4.7 / 4.0, wetsuit either a 4/3 for the nice days or 5/4 steamer for the cold days.

Sail Seaford which is just north of Moana, Aldinga gets a nice wave sometimes, that is 15minutes south of Moana, and Seacliff is 20 minutes north, Middleton is only 30 minutes south and that gets good beach break on Westerly or North Westerly.

Cheers
Graeme

Hi Lucas,
How long are you in SA? We're a store in Glenelg (near the airport), we generally don't hire windsurfing gear but we can arrange a log term rental or a buy back agreement if you buy gear and sell it back to us when you leave.
Happy to help.
Cheers Pete - ONBOARD SURF

I arrived and brought my gear. The forecast looks good for the coming week. Is Seaford sailable with NW? I want to go there tomorrow morning, forecast NW 14-22 kts. From Tuesday to Friday I'll probably go to Middleton.

Seaford is looking nice this morning, tide is low, small wave, 15knot northerly. worth the drive.

I was quite early, when I arrived there was nobody on the water so I decided to sail a little further south at Moana which was quite good. After an hour a saw quite a few people sailing at Seaford.

I sailed every day from sunday till today! First day with easy conditions at Moana and then 3 very nice days of riding loooooooooong waves at Middleton, a real paradise compared to the waves in The Netherlands. Today and friday I am advised to sail Seacliff so will give that spot a try! Amazing good sailing here in SA. So glad I brought my gear to your beautiful country.

Hey longfin
Yes, middleton is great/
we will be at seacliff tomorrow, early - so see you there, and Juan might be there today since he doesn't have work - he will park in the carpark at the end of the esplanade

If you are still at Moana you might want to check Snapper Point at Aldinga around 2pm (about 10 kilometres south of Moana - just past port Willunga on the Esplanade - could be pretty good later this arvo if it goes wsw - might save a drive to a very high tide Seacliff - works best once tide hits abou 1.7m - see the map link below

Hmmm, I saw your message just when I arrived in Seacliff. How is/was snapper point? Looks pretty omshore here in Seacliff.
Noboby on the water yet. Hopefully the wind will turn a bit more south. Will go on the water soon with 2 kiteboarders.
