I'm going to be in Point Lowly on the weekend to look at the cuttlefish, but Sat. looks windy so I will take my board.
Has anyone go any local knowledge for this spot they would be happy to share?
Bit of tide around the point and plenty of rocks I hear?
Cheers, Dr Duck
The bay has potential, pretty sure there are a few windsurfers in Whyalla that sail there,
Hell of a tide right at the point,
Keep your feet up out of the water,
In a seabreeze it is a onshore wind wave spot with a lot of current. You will need a weed fin for most spots around there..
Most locals who windsurf in whyalla kite now, so might be worth posting on the kite forum?
Thanks guys, looks like it might be a howling southerly. Big weed fin it is, and if I see the kiters out I will go and hang out with them.
Nothing wrong with the point. Take off from the Jetty side of the point at the last beach before the lighthouse. Tomorrows forecast is good for the morning but this time of the year quite likely to drop out quickly. Only hazards are the rip which is strong out the back past the point. This is the only area where no weed fins required the rip keeps the area clear. Won't be any kiters out there most stay at the local foreshore and if they are there a great bunch.
Hope it blows for you.
HI EB saw you down the beach having fun.Maybe Duck should try the Whyalla beach and i could say hello.Have to get to know the Adelaide gang as i will be moving there.
Hi Everyone, thanks for the tips. We were staying in the Lighthouse keepers cottage, so it was an easy launch practically from the front yard. Got a good session in late Sat on a 5.3, a bit like that first photo. Sunday I got to see some Giant Cuttlefish so all good!
