Out of action for a bit with some fractured metatarsals to my left foot suffered at Boggy Lake on Wednesday as lost control of my board on my second to last leg of the day. Felt the cracking of something in my foot with subsequent excruciating pain that immediately followed. Swearing my head off, got my **** together enough to sail back in one tack. Hobbled back in and many thanks to Leon for helping derig and Gareth and another kiter for offering assistance. Drove self home and dont ever bag auoto's!!!
Hope to be back sailing asap:-)
Sorry to hear that Pete
hope the recovery is smooth and quick

That's bad news PJ. Sorry to hear about it.
I broke metatarsals in my left foot about 15 years ago (windsurfing) - took a good 6 months to heal, and I still have issues now with deck shape and cold weather sometimes giving me grief. Darren Zub also did his recently and was off the water for a bit too, but is now back sailing.
What have you got...cast? walking stick? crutches? moon boot?..
Like always, look after it, and give it time to heal properly, let Dave Mossop use your gear, and you'll be right. ![]()
I have the "moon boot". No way am I wearing in bed but during the day **** it really supports the foot. Pain subsiding very quickly. Just by feel I don't think I've badly fractured my foot. Also don't bag Panadol Osteo's it really does work:-) I wont knock Endones but I don't like being stoned for long periods. Pandols do the trick well enough:-)
PJ, sorry to hear, just curious, was your foot way in the strap? Or did you come out and smack the mastfoot or something like that?
Speedy recovery to you.
E
Bugger Dam Blast it must be bad luck foot month, hope you are sailing soon, If Dave cant keep the dust off you gear I can allways help ![]()
Are you & Chris D comparing foot'ies
Have another weight bearing x-ray off my left foot in 2 weeks time to determine if i have a Lisfranc fracture (www.aafp.org/afp/1998/0701/p118.html)
If I do then it most probably will be surgery for pins, immobilization, etc and could be out for up to 6 months or more? I'm hoping I don't have a Lisfranc and be back a whole lot sooner. Foot right now feels weird, crackly almost, not right at all. Fingers crossed:-)
Lis is a real bitch[}:)]
I hear all the stories from the other half getting to pull out all the pins...
Hope you get a good prognosis Pete!
geeze, I'm about to start training for the spin loop by doing some low speed catapults with my feet in the straps...I can barely keep my feet in during jumps never mind spins, so was going to make the straps bigger. Now I'm paranoid, not only about breaking my feet, but getting stuck under the sail after the aforementioned planed crash.
textbook says only see your toes poking through your straps....but in reality, what can we get away with and not bust our feet? and not get stuck in board?
