Was wondering whether anyone has an old 85-100 litre board laying around they will never use? Doesnt have to be in good cond. Can be broken/cracked/wrecked im not really fussy. Will pay cash/beer!!!!!
Want to start to push the envelope a bit and do some crazier stuff but what always holds me back is the fear of breaking my good board in doing so. Please pm me if you have anything that could be useful!!!!
Cheers
I would bog the cracks up before of course, geez.
Not going to go 10km out, just some loops/rolls and crap in the shallows
Let's put the challenge out there, will Mark be the next Semaphore sailor to learn and be able to pull off Forwards???
Come on guys, give us some entertainment. I'll put up a six pack of Crown Lager for the first of the Semi crew to learn and sail away from one.
If all that hold you back is fear of breaking gear
Then ill let you take out mine. Always happy to watch people learn forwards. If you commit 100 percent then you board will be fine. No excuses now. ![]()
Thats the plan Bondy! Got an old boom, old sail ready to go. Just need an old board and im off. There will be no more fear anymore of wrecking your expensive gear, it will be just all out 100% ![]()
OnBoard have got an old 90L Mistral Freeride, same as my regular Sems board. It's in much better cond. than mine too. Prob get it for $200??
They also have a Fanatic Goya 81L for about $300. This board is mint and perfect for Sems. Nice wave board with not too much tail rocker so it planes early.
Good luck with the loop attempts :)
yer cheers R, im 95kg though so prob bit small. Want it for the normal 20-25 knot seabreezes so prob need 95+ really to maximise TOW
I like your enthusiasm Mark, cant wait to see you translate it to moves on the water.
Hopefully you will have a few challengers, maybe someone else out there will offer further prizes as well, maybe biggest stack, most damaged board, busted eardrum award, biggest bruises etc
Just to clarify, sailing away from one means your feet never leave the straps and it has to be verified by an independant witness. [:)
watching video now bondy still a bit sore in the ankle from my first attempt xmas day i will by a six pack if you make it there before 5 oclock ,,,,,, i have the carve 100 litre but don't know if i want too sell it yetand booms and mast break boards can be patched
I won't be at Semi for at least two weeks, heading to Middleton for a week then off to the West Coast. Look forward to hearing if anyone has won the crownies when I get back. ![]()
I will add a box of crowns if someone does it. Credible witness required....
Sure u are not wimping out Bondy??
Pretty good offer at Semaphore. A box of crowies from Geoff and a six pack from me if you learn how to do and sail away from forwards. (not sure if Geoff's offer only applied to tonight though?)
Should be some good competition, pity i wont be there to see.
All i got when i learnt was a smashed board and bruises.
Didn't see any commitment today.
Your beers are pretty safe .
If you can overcome the fear and try one,
You'll realise they are so easy .
Just pull the trigger and you'll rotate
Clive has generously donated an old naish board.
Thats why there was no commitment today was waiting for that to use for the practice.
