The Bamba is Ready to fly...after I fix up a catapult dent (or should I say Hole)I put in her last year
I'll be at the rear making sure no one else gets into trouble![]()
Sorry, Pete you beat me too it. Was out all afternoon and night.
Hayden, the courses are short and depend on the conditions on the day. Often around the marker poles at Seacliff or a buoy or two. There can be an upwind leg. Last summer there was a lot of offshore SE and longboards ruled. But if we get a SW one evening maybe Tony will set a figure 8 for us.
Cheers, Richard
So it's on this evening folks. Weather looks like it will be classic longboarding conditions come 6 pm and beers by 7pm.
Got my short board quota yesterday about 5pm - Marino point with a 5.3 and the odd waist high wave. Short but sweet. Swell was a surprise. Anyone bag a session at U-turns?
Well, the warm-up race on Wednesday saw us in long wetties with still a hint of winter in the air. The afternoon seabreeze seemed to be 12 k or so, but we raced 2 triangles in 8 knots, maybe less, as the sun went down. A lot of pumping and ooching out of the harness needed to keep up speed. A very hard workout for the core muscles. If you want to improve your pumping, these are the conditions for it! Ron took a knock from hell just before the finish line as the SE kicked in. Racing can be cruel sometimes.
4 of us on the water - Richard, Nick, Ron and Anthea. Plenty of Kudos to Anthea for getting a set-up together, including a boom scavenged from the Goolwa dump.
It would be great to see more sailors on the water next month. Let us know if you have a board that needs liberation!
Thanks to Tony and Pete.
Cheers, Richard
next month for sure... sorry the Bamba wasn't ready, had more issues than I thought....![]()
Hope you all had a good night
