One of the photos in the windsurfing section with the two guys with really high denim pants. The guy on the left is Brett Yardley. I remember the guy with the mirror sunnys sitting on the bonnet of the car in the Seacliff Yacht Club car park but I can't remember his name. He used to drive an HT kingswood wagon painted in grey primer.
Who's the blond guy? not you is it Pete?
Is the guy sitting on the bonnet of the HZ with the black and red boardies Mark Pisters?
The photo with the two ugly boards, the green one looks like an arse. That's taken from Kingston Park looking towards the yacht club.
That's my best shot. Do I win some beer then?

Haha ... trick question. I reckon Phil Bache, watching the Round Delfin Island race.

This is a long shot, but I reckon Number 3 might be Glenelg North before it was buggered up by Holdfast Shores.

On a good day, I seem to remember it could break top to bottom in a big blow. And Wagon Wheels were about 12" across too.

I reckon there is also a shot of Long Beach at Robe.

Pic 4/5 also looks like Glenelg North - I might lay claim to the pink/blue Bombora rig on the LHS (although it's a bit hard to prove ;) )

I reckon we should make the demo Day a Retro Day where everyone brings their retro gear so those "unlucky" ones who never used the boards we learnt on can see how much fun it was in those days.
Plus I'd love to know where some of those Gravelle boards I did artwork on, ended up.

Cool - I'll bring this:

Just not sure I can remember where I left it.
I reckon we should start a thread for retro SA windsurfing photos.

great shots/hair

ps- glenelg north isnt bugg'd up by holdfast shores- its still my regular Adelaide beach (has been since '80s). Now sail at ramp, 200m nth of King St
Dredge outflow has created a bar that works well. There are submerged reefs (same sort as semaphore sand bags) being sunk soon that may make it better than its heyday: it should be like cabo verde, probably better.
Watch BOM (adelaide airport) about 230pm and you will see it builds stronger earlier than semaphore and last year was almost as windy overall; only it goes SE earlier.
Buildings dont affect it- if it goes SE you were always stuffed anyway.
Shane and i are the only ones that sail there; great to have some company (cranked Sunday + last weekend), also welcome to demo OES boards.

The guy on the bonnet of the green Kingswood is Westy. I remember the guy with blond hair, but not so sure of the name... it's not Peter Edwards or Peter Eddie or something?

After seeing those photos I understand why I never started sailing in the 80's and why us surfers would refer to the" bunch of wind wankers" out at the mid. Remember we used to chat with the crew as we drank at the Seacliff on a Thursday night - Mr Pridham (Jump City boards or something) and other crew who I can't remember (too many beers has dulled my name recall)

It sure has come a long way.

What no harnesses - or can't I see them!!!

I'm going to give away my age now....but the guy who is sailing with the Tyronsea sail in many of the Photos is Pete Jeffery (PJ), the Green Retro board used to belong to a guy called Rudi Afnan. I even think I might of sailed it!
Yes Ben is right that is Westie on the bonnet of his old Holden, which he actually drove into the sea at the BSYC ramp and their was a seabreeze blowing that day so Hally, Brenton Allan and I gybed around his car whilst he sat in it!!

Ah the memories!!

OK, have a nomination from a third party (almost surprisingly not in some of the pics himself) that this one is Peter Jeffrey at West Lakes, too:

Peter Jefferey made my first short board 7'10" thruster. youd never float on it today.
The Peter Jeffrey Model it was a cracker.Reckon i even buffed with some vitamin "I"
Dont reckon thats Brett Yardley tho, wrong hair.

Didnt westy drive it into the sea cause Pisters tapped a cone into the back and set it on fire.thats what i remember.
That looks like a young young ,still normal pisters on the bonnet.

Classic shot from in the water looking back on my beloved seacliff.

Brenton Allen is a junkie these days, totally scattered. If you see him crack him one in the head cause he needs it, then tell him its from the windsurf crew.
He tried to steal our friends handbag at a nightclub and we were gonna bash him and it turned out to be Brenton, and he tried to sell us meth and pulled out a full ounce bag of the ****. pity but yet another meth head ice lost it

All before my time, but I do recognise the sail in the second picture down on the right hand side: the first sail I owned and learnt to sail with.
