A nice sized North West swell filled in Tuesday(Feb 9th) and I got the call early that Peahi was working. I had been thwarted (nickwarmuth.blogspot.com/2009/11/thwarted.html) a few times before, but I had a feeling that today was the day. The wind was strong and had a very offshore direction too it, I took out my 4.7 Superfreak ME edition and my OES Quad 72. The quad 72 handled really well in the double mast high sets. I moved the back fins to the back of the box and added a little extra distance between the front and back fins. It wasn't the cleanest day at Peahi, there were bumps the size of Volkswagen at the bottom of some of the waves. I was a little nervous setting the bottom turn with the four fins, but wave after wave, the harder I pushed the more the board drove. Since it was my first time out there I took it easy, and watched the pros(Levi Siver, Robby Swift) rip it, and I'll be ready for next time. Check out the videos/shots at Jimmie Hepp's facebook page.
