So how long till we get a decent blow again - I reckon 3 weeks - last April it was about 5 weeks of no sailing - lucky there's a few waves around so at least we get a surf - any bets on when we'll sail again (more than 20 knts)
A pale ale to the most accurate guess!!!
I missed out on the duldrems last year, thank god! I was in Europe, maybe I should go back for 4 weeks and 5 days.
How is the leg going Tony? Nice and Itchy?
No I've got the cast off and am into one of those trendy shoes they put you in instead. So I don't have to put up with the itchy leg in the cast or having a shower with a plastic bag over my foot etc.
I'm keen as, even if I can't sail I'm sure I can help out in some way. A local comp has been along time coming, I wouldn't miss it for the world.
I'm sure Brett and Lee-Anne will allow me the time off to be at the comp...right?
Stop rubbing it in Dave,
I cant belive it, we stay hear with no wind, while you go to Maui. Not Fair
Any chance you need some one to carry your bags?
Vikki can baby sit?![]()
I hope things improve in Maui for you Dave. I am sure they will as you will be there in June.
This is from the Maui Blog.
More bad windsurfing news from Maui. April closed out with more pathetically light winds and May has kicked off with the same. Overall weather is sunny and beautiful but the wind is virtually non-existant. Worst April I've personally seen for wind on Maui.
Hey Dave,
Who's doing flights for $650?
Jetstar are doing flights each way at $321/$341 without baggage, but by the time you add the taxs and charges on it comes to around $900 return.
I reckon I could convince the missus to let me go for $650, but if I try at $900 I might finish up back in the emergency department!
Tony
Remeber it was for Sydney, I am pretty sure it was Jetstar

Even cheaper if you take only cabin luggage!
Thanks Dave,
That's about what I got for similar dates.
Any tips on where to stay that's really cheap? There used to be a pretty dodgy place in Paia just up from the servo that was mega cheap... it may have fallen down by now![]()
I've only stayed in Paia in the backsteet almost opposite the servo. That wasn't too bad.
I might have to camp with the homless dudes down by the end of the runway near Kahului!
Tony
HI Guys
Just got this email in from Russ ,one of my OES sailors on Maui tonight , sounds like it has been pretty windless and flat for the most of April, but looks like it is about to start blowing again!!
Hi Pete,
Sailed perfect mast high waves today. There was practically no wind, but just enough to slog around and catch waves. There has been no windsurfing for the last 2 weeks, so everyone is freaking out. It is supposed to come back by wednesday or thursday though.
Check out this youtube video that Jake put up recently (
sorry to hear about the doldrums guys...looks like your not the only ones!
its been like this for 2 weeks or so and still going ........i'm sick of windless blue skys and endless 27 deg days![]()
I am happy to take the blame - that's what you get for buying a new board!!!
Thursday the 14th might go Northerly - fingers crossedf for that weekend and some wind for the exprss sess - I'll be out there even if I have to take the wife's 160 funster!!!
I think I'll wait till next year. I've just ordered a board, so I don't think I'll push the finance department any further just yet.
Last time I went to Maui I got there in June/July and it was really windy but no waves. I'd rather go later in the year when Lanes is pumping!
Besides the OES boys might kick me out if I rocked up with my Starboard boards.
Three letters boys. S, U and P. Last weekend was sweet as in the mid and down the far coast. Your missing out...... Its the closest thing to glug wavesaiing I have found. Just swapping your rig for a paddle. Then when its windy, you will feel fitter and like your last sail was just last week......
