I have a hardly used X9 (the grey and gold type) but the boom end has split. Will part with some $ for a replacement end if anyone has one lying around?

If you don't get any replies, try Windsurfing Perth. Bound to have one lying around they can ship to you.

What dimaeter is the tail tube? I have a brand new x7 tail - exactly the same as the x9 but with a little less adjustment range(lighter) but it is for 180+ booms...

Is the tail repairable?

I think i have a tail out the back I kept from an old broken x9, Ill try and dig it out and let ya know. Otherwise I have a perfect tail from a maui boom you can have that should fit perhaps.

On a side note what were np thinking when they were designing these booms? Designing the boom grip out of 50 different pieces like a jigsaw and expecting it all to stay intact for more than half a season's use? Also probably the worst designed tailclips ever imo.

Haven't heard of them but will follow up with "SHQ". Yea - the design was crap. This one died in the tail but I only used it for a year as a spare - and the different grip components were coming apart. We should be compensated!
