Hi Jimbob,

How should the weed situation be on the lake for october weekend? Is it worth organising weed fins or are they letting some sea water in?

Looking forward to it - hope to catch you then.

Cheers.

Carl the water level is coming up fairly quickly and should be full by the longweekend. you won't need a weedy, the lake has not been opened to the sea this winter, bool lagoon 100k's up is full and flowing down drain M into lake george so all fresh water filling it up, the drain to the sea is called the outlet for a reason it was origanlly there to let the water out, last time bool overflowed (early 2000's)the lake was at bursting and covered the road well before the 5 mile drift, this time they tryed to divert this water down a new 7 millin dollar drain to the top of the coorong but ha ha it didn't work. you guys camping will you need some wood ?.
i am on night shift for the event still trying to get someone to work for me but nobody seems to want to do nights for me.

Spit is fine for motorbikes, the crusty demons were there a few years ago and put on a great show!

note : Crusty demons a few years back were drunk dirt bikers doing monos and tricks at speed with no helmets or shirts, was only a matter of time before one os them hurt themselves, was very good entertainment for a few hours on a no wind afternoon :)

I think we are looking at heading down that way for the Long Weekend....

Is the spit the best area to camp or is the sailing from 3 and 5 mile drift just as good?

I assume it is a must to bring your own wood?

jamdfinger the land from the gate and out the spit is private owned they let us sailand camp there because they are good blokes, you will need your own wood as you can not be cutting down the trees there, last year I supplied a trailer of wood i will see what I can do this time, the sailing is just as good of the 5mile I still sailout of there a lot its just no good with west in the wind where as the spit is out the middle of both lakes so has all wind directions covered., I will take some photo's a couple weeks before and post here so you all can see the water level and conditions, we are having heaps of rain here so water won't be a problem.
looks like i'm stuck on nights all weekend can't get anyone to do my shifts as the afl grandfinal is on as well, still will be out sailing in the arvos just won't be drinking a bundy around the fire after.
Divaldo we will have to catch up after maui trip, you would have worn out the sup here the last couple weeks been perfect for supping with very clean waves and light offshore.

Will do Jimbob, just putting finishing touches to 'MAUI the movie', (my Mac had a hiccup with all of the large files I loaded onto it - all sorted now)

Got the SUP out on Sunday, was great fun!

the water is now right up so nowhere for the kids to hoon around unless they go up to the big dunes, but little wheels and sand don't go too well. will take a couple pics soon.

Jimbob you have huge Northerly this Saturday then a huge SW Tuesday for Lake George. I might consider a drive up Monday for the Tuesday if forecast holds!

Later:-)

ps - Going tomorrow and staying overnight at Boggy Lake as I'm planning to do a major distance day either Friday and or Sat as the forecast N to NE is a perfect direction.

sorry a bit late for you dave, ( why isn't there a crying or teary emotion )

Looking back from the spit towards the huts where you camp, no crusty demons this year unless they have jetski's......

middle lake side was sailing with a 30 fin today and could run right in close.

by next week i think the water will be right up at the 5 mile drift and you will have to take the top track over the dunes.

Ty's Dad HAAK was teabagging today and took some video of me, he might post it maybe.

Nearly thought of getting the teabag gear out of the trailer myself.

Team "JIMBOB"

Style, "GUESS WHAT HAPPENED NEXT"

Great day, tea baggers had the best of it from 8am to 11am NNE 25 > 29 knots, ideal for speed runs along the spit.
Team Jimbob showed up at 11, the wind dropped back to around 18 > 20.hehehe.
I think Jamie had a 30" fin and he was able to get pretty close to the edge.

No problem getting to the spit as long as you don't have a lowered SS Commodore.

TEAM JIMBOB HAS FINALLY SEEN THE LIGHT AND IS CROSSING TO THE DARK SIDE . (on those light days).

great work Jamie and Grumpy, is that the trusty 5.0 Jamie?
great photies!
I took some footage today of U-Turns, will edit something up in the morning, was a very windy day with zero waves, so not that exciting, bit of kit broken though :)

See you in october,
