It does look wild, a challenging airstrip for pilots!!

i hadn't heard about that. the interesting thing is (according to a SMH article in 2010) they deliberately introduced owls to control the (accidentally introduced) rat population. now they estimate up to fifty pairs of owls live in the area that would usually only support three mating pairs. that says there's a a lot of food for them!

but of course the problem now becomes that if they eradicate/decimate the rat population the owls will start looking for other sources of food, presumably kiteboarders.
